regardless of whether you think Vossy's squat form is "good" or not, the players will benefit from a powerlifting coach teaching proper techniques. just like they get in sprint and running coaches to teach specific sprinting and running techniques.

qualification: former competitive powerlifter
This guy should be available. DQ 4EVER might know him.

This is the day where the excitement returns (hopefully anyway). The part of pre-season where the run into the season has commenced.

Can't wait to hear some of the training reports that are going to come through.

I've got bad news

Doorman has just sat Infront of me. I'm gonna have to listen to him tell the players how useless they are.
Tell him to get out there and show them how it’s done then.

There’s still a SSP spot up for grabs

Slim Sweidy looking smooth with his shades on.

Cox from the USA looking a little flamboyant in the drills compared to the others

Almost injury free which is better than the last 15 years
Unsure why anyone that would want our team to stay injury free would type this into a public forum board... Prayers up!

Training report: it ****en hot

(Nah but seriously the boys are working hard, vossy putting in 110%, and my god tobyn murray wants a spot. he looks the goods and he's kicking the goals to match)
That's a nice little bonus when you recruit a mature player.

Baseline for him is ready to go depth. Can he push for a best 23 spot?

For what it's worth this training report comes via another person. Ive been told by my mate who works with a Dockers Board Member Mason Cox really impressed in the last match sim before the break. Apparently he dominated the centre throw ups going mostly against Darcy. Cox could be a massive benefactor of the change in ruck rules. It could be an interesting battle to watch for the rest of the preseason, Cox versus Darcy I mean. I still see Sean heading our ruck Round 1 but Im just saying it will be interesting viewing watching the centre clearance ruck contests.
This won’t go down well but there is a fair argument to say that Cox is a better player than Darcy too

That's encouraging news about Tobyn Murray being so keen to earn a spot for himself. Hopefully he keeps performing and puts pressure on to gain a spot in the side.

Training report
I had both of my awesome children with me so I may have missed a bit.

Training started with a decent warm up that wasn't much different to last season. They go from warn ups to modified game mode with separate forwards, mids and backs who eventually link up. Some around the perimeter of the Oval overlap handball and kicking then finally into match sim with the use of full oval and some peel lads filling in. A fee peel boys looked good. I don't know them so won't go into detail there. Then some cool down running. A good 2 and a half hours of medium to high intensity Training.

As mentioned most players available and those not joining in match sims did running and looked in good condition, especially Sweid.

Notable mentions go to Jye Amiss who was probably the most productive key forward today. Lead well and kicked well.

Murray might get a game early from the moments i saw but sometimes I may have got some of the new players and train ons mixed up.

The best players during match sim was Brayshaw Young and Serong. Not all on the same team. Young is elite bar one kick.

Dudley looks much fitter and so does Reid. Tall Cox played only as a tall forward. Maybe i missed those moments but I'm sure he just floated inside 50.

O'Driscoll was ok but still buggers some kicks. It can cost turnovers. He does look strong and fit. Just needs more composure.

Banfield had one good kick in match sim and a shocker of a handball under token pressure.

Some great chase down tackles. Gee Freddy runs hard to tackle.

This preseason I'm trying to ballance out the positive and slightly negative views i have. Overall a good session with only a little bit of average ball use.

Curious to hear if Chris Scerri is still putting both hands up for a spot on the list.

It is a good question. I feel we've taken many Smalls lately. I didn't notice him standing out as he blended in with training.

That doesn't mean he won't though. It's hard to tell when you can't focus on everyone.

Thanks for your time and effort to post a report to keep us informed of progress with the team.

Thanks for the training report, though I had a laugh at the end.

You're going to balance positive and negative but you're a well known Banfield hater and your major negative comprises Banfield missing a handball 😂.
