Controversial opinion possibly but I don't rate Trac. Wasn't at his best even before the injury. Gets ball but just bombs it.

That was the game plan for the Demons, all of Petracca, Oliver, Langdon and Viney were long bomb shank merchants into the forward fifty and all the tall forwards had to do was bring it to ground for the smalls to make the impact.

I like the fact that we can have a range of mids running through the middle.
Top trio of Brashaw, Serong and Young
2nd course of Jackson, Erasmus, Bolton
3rd Reid, Switta, Johnson
4th Omera, Wagner, Noddy etc

Start the game with the A team and then change it up the whole way through with the rest. Need a big body - Jackson in Brayshaw to the wing. Extractor needs a rest Serong to the bench and Erasmus in. Forward line not getting a touch - Bolton on ball and young gos full forward. Someone in the middle getting a heap of it - bring in Wagner or Johnson to tag.

I would even love to see us start both Darcy and Jackson in the middle with them expecting darcy to jump for the ball only to have Jackson go up instead (only as a distraction/trick). Just be as fluid as possible

Yep, this is what the top team manage to do.

You think that's controversial?

I dont even like his recipes...

2013 Neale is nowhere near the player that Serong is currently. Brayshaw has Hill covered. Jordan Clark, Murphy Reid, excluded from comparisons?

2026 is very very good, not quite 2013 level, but getting closer, and hopefully passes 2013 in the next couple of years.
Also Jackson's fairest comparison would be Zac Clarke in which he would be ahead by a mile. And as you say - Lee Spurr/Danyle Pearce vs Jordan Clarke....

The big one is peak Fyfe - if we had someone as dominant as that in this current team it would be a no-brainer. The rest of the comparisons are borderline in my opinion.

In addition, Dave is a legend and his longevity was incredible but Young is better if fit.

Top 5 for 2013 always clears, it's the 5 greatest Dockers of all time mostly playing some of their best football. Top 20 2026 clears 2013 IMO (which is along the lines people have been saying anyway).

Fyfe/Pav/McPharlin and even Sandi are no contests IMO.

I believe Reid can be as big a catalyst or at least close to Fyfe in terms of influencing the dynamics and flow of the team.
Obviously he's not going to have the aerial ability or sheer inside dominance but I think the way he sees the game and sets up play can have a huge impact on how the team as a whole plays.

One genius level inside/outside distributor can setup a team. Think Pendles at the Pies or Neale at GC and I believe thats a level in reach for Reid.

Alternating Reid and Young between HF and onball is going to be a good switch up combination. A fit Young is ready to dominate physically and Reid with his finesse will set up a lot of plays. Obviously different types but gives us a good mix of skills as both have immaculate disposal.

Where do people see Wagner lining up round 1?

I hear names like JOM, NOD, Sharp, Murray getting thrown around as wing options, but i personally think Wagner will line up on one of them.

IMO

Wagner will be first choice fat side winger (Sharp not in the team but back up option for Wagner injury or if we go back to a highly defensive strategy), also half back at times. Johnson or Frederick to chop out on this wing when Wagner goes back or is on the bench.

JOM will be one of the options on the skinny side, I reckon with Erasmus having the second most time there. Given where NOD has been training, I feel like he is an option for the skinny side, albeit a lot further down the pecking order.

Murray more a backup option for someone like Frederick.

The new rules almost make Darcy redundant. Can't jump so it'll be interesting to see how he adds value in the middle.

So we might live in a world where Darcy never rucks, but plays to attend throw ins etc where he can do body on body,

That'll require him to be fit enough to get from contest to contest.. and guess what he needs to do that.. strong fitness and reliable calf muscles!

The secret sauce I'm looking for is Reid playing inside on the ball, handballing to Young outside, with the rest of the mids screening for Youngie quarterback style, so he can kick into the forward line unimpeded.

Reid has the vision and hands to completely unpick an opposing defensive midfield set up all on his own. Young's left foot meanwhile is more precise than a brain surgeon's right hand, and can thread needles from 55 meters away.

Get those two connecting properly, and our tri-tower & mosquito fleet forward line combined are going to be dominating the Coleman top 10.

Another couple of soft tissues for GWS today, you'd hate to be their head of high performance....
