Every single club will pitch to Tarryn. It’s Inevitable he comes back and has a successful footy career. Talent like his is hard to find. Clubs will look past any issue in the pursuit of winning.
Spot on, the only thing stopping Tarryn now is himself, which is still a big possibility.

It is a remarkable turn around given that only 5 months ago he was hiding baggies in Lambos on King St and being held against his will by people he was trying buy drugs from sell a car to in buttf*** nowhere.

Talented sure. Also has a huge amount of luggage that it is not clear that he has put down.

This is not to mention the reason he was actually kicked out of the AFL, and then couldn't get a gig at a lower league side, even after being cleared to do so.

A club may take the punt on him. I am tipping that he will take the better part of a season to put on any sort of conditioning.

He is probably a 2-3 year project to play meaningful consistent football (if he got to consistent as he was pretty injured often with us).

That is a long time for him to go without f***ing up.

I get that he is a source of pain because he was high talent and we lost him for nothing, but honestly and from the bottom of my heart, FTG.

On one hand I could see clubs waiting for him to play VFL and rip it apart and he goes pick 1 in the MSD, on the other I can see clubs not wanting to go near him because of sponsor & supporter backlash.

“Collingwood premiership forward Bobby Hill and former North Melbourne midfielder Tarryn Thomas made surprise returns to football in WA’s South West on Saturday.

Hill, Thomas and Geelong half-back Lawson Humphries were part of the Koolbardis team that won the annual GWABA Bunbury Football Carnival.

Playing for the Syd Jackson Cup — named after former Carlton and South Bunbury star — the Indigenous football carnival had no shortage of current and former AFL stars across the two grades…
Thomas’ appearance comes just days after it was revealed the former first-round draftee could finally return to the AFL with clubs able to pick up the 25-year-old either as a free agent or through the drafts.

He was sacked by North Melbourne back in February 2024 following a series of allegations over his treatment of women.

Thomas trained with Swan Districts earlier this year but wasn’t signed after he was granted a return to state league football.“

I still don't believe he makes it back. Clubs would have to weigh up his drug-dealing antics in addition to what their AFLW teams might do in protest. Radioactive PR. Has he even been playing footy at all?
And a reminder, he was turned down by a lower league team that doesn't even have a women's team affiliated with them.

The sell to the club is going to be an insane task for anyone who wants to consider him.

Didn't realize hes been so active football wise
Believe he trained with Swannies and didn't get picked up after.
Bullants took it to a board meeting and unanimously decided not to touch him for fear of backlash/losing sponsors.

He'll need at least a year playing second tier footy somewhere to get another crack. Finding somewhere that'll take him may be a struggle though.
He may like his chances in wa. Tried swan districts already. Just played in Bunbury. Plenty of opportunities in the regions.

WA local government elections

Independent politician Aussie Trump, who was formerly known as Ben Dawkins, is among the candidates in the Shire of Harvey, but provisional results indicate his council tilt has been unsuccessful.

Originally a Labor MLC, Mr Trump was expelled from the party after pleading guilty to 35 breaches of a domestic violence restraining order, related to his former partner.

He then switched to One Nation before being dumped from the party's Legislative Council ticket by party leader Pauline Hanson.

Further south in Albany, Tamara Frewen, one of several candidates running on a self-described "anti-woke" platform, has come under fire for comparing the local pride group to Nazis on social media.

Could run a joint ticket with Basil?

Former North Melbourne midfielder Tarryn Thomas has taken a major step in his bid to revive his AFL career, signing with Northern Territory Football League powerhouse Southern Districts.

Thomas met with Crocs officials at the weekend to discuss a pathway back into competitive football, with further talks scheduled for early this week.

If discussions progress positively, the 25-year-old could train with the club and line up for his first game as early as this weekend.

Southern Districts confirmed their interest in Thomas through a detailed statement on Sunday night.

"Tarryn Thomas has approached the Southern Districts Football Club to explore the possibility of reconnecting with football in a safe, structured, and community-focused environment," it read.

"At this stage, the Southern Districts Football Club has not made any decision regarding his potential involvement.

"We are simply undertaking our due diligence and providing our stakeholders with an opportunity to understand his background and the personal development work he has undertaken since leaving the AFL system.

"Tarryn has expressed that he is seeking an opportunity to continue his personal growth within an environment surrounded by strong Indigenous role models - something Southern Districts is proud to provide."

The Crocs emphasised that their environment - built around respected Indigenous leaders - could play an important role in helping Thomas rebuild both on and off the field.

"Our club has a number of respected Indigenous leaders who set high standards both on and off the field, and that's the kind of environment Tarryn recognises can support his ongoing personal growth," it said.

For Southern Districts, the focus right now is on understanding the person, not the player.

"Should a pathway forward be identified, it will be based on accountability, positive behaviour, and a genuine commitment to rebuilding both his life, and potentially, his football career.

"Southern Districts takes pride in the strong culture that exists within our football community.

"If an opportunity does arise, it will be managed in a way that reflects our core principles of respect, inclusion, leadership, and integrity."

Thomas has not played at any level since being handed an 18-game suspension by the AFL and later delisted by North Melbourne following a series of off-field incidents, including poor conduct towards women, which led to a league investigation.

Earlier this year, the AFL cleared Thomas to play at State League level with a non-AFL affiliated club, but he was unable to secure a contract despite training opportunities with VFL side Northern Bullants and WAFL club Swan Districts.

In October, the AFL confirmed Thomas had met all requirements to again be eligible for selection by an AFL club, clearing the way for his potential return to the elite level.

Originally selected with pick eight in the 2018 AFL Draft, Thomas played 69 games across five seasons for North Melbourne before his dismissal.

More recently, he featured for the Fitzroy Stars at the VACSAL Statewide Football and Netball Carnival in Melbourne earlier this month.

Southern Districts already boast a wealth of former AFL talent including Jed Anderson, Quinton Narkle, Ash Johnson, Steven Motlop, Isiah Winder, Lloyd Johnston and Will Rowlands.
