Don’t think it’s the worst thing. Club and manger could’ve easily said (likely) we’ll sit down around the bye period and go through it all. That’s a pretty common occurrence.

That’s not really how free agency works though unless the management comes to the club and say we want to get a deal done right now. Players that aren’t genuine a graders (see petracca oliver etc) gets maximum value from seeing what’s out there. A player like redman who is in great form but doesn’t have a huge amount of runs on the board, is sometimes hard to judge what price they’re worth.

Think he has 1 top 10 finish in a bnf, that’s not a huge amount to go off in reference to others which moreorless demand and get what they want.

He definitely and he’ll get much more than that, but he’ll get himself more money out of essendon by sussing the market and letting Adelaide chase him. It’s smart business, with whatever club he chooses in the end.
