A third or fourth finish wil have us travelling two weeks in a row with the away Saints game
Unfair to the extreme with a top 4 finisher having to travel consecutive weeks while the lower finishing Vic teams get the non travelling final
With a 2 finish possibly now out of reach and the top 4 now locked in should we rest the majority of the best 22 and bring in the kids for a meaningless Saints game?

Yeah been thinking about this.. I wonder when they will schedule our qualifying final, Sunday would be handy with the extra day traveling 2 weeks in a row but would then mean a 6 day turn around for the return game at Subiaco should we lose.

Edit - although against Geelong it would be very likely be at Docklands which would mean that it would have to be played on Saturday with the other game at the MCG.

We are only two points behind second position.

It's not out of the question. Geelong play tougher opponents than the Eagles next week.

True that for next week but Brissie at home should be a lock in win for them and Geelong finish the season with 2 home games plus a non travelling final

i don't think travelling in the first week will be too bad, as long as we've got at least a week to recover from the saints game.
last year we had a six day break after the cats game at the G and also had to fly to adelaide. we ran out of legs. recovery time is key.

We'll finish 3rd at least IMO, the only way we won't is if we somehow screw up one of these remaining three games. 2nd is if results really go our way. Is it still possible for us to finish in first spot?

I think the head honcho's were also a bit disorganised. We hadn't organised a late flight home. Every other game last year we flew home immediately after the game. Post the Geelong final we stayed the night in Victoria. Making the time between flights even shorter.

Hawthorn lose games to Sydney and North, Geelong lose to Sydney and we beat Sydney for percentage, or Brisbane beat Geelong. Assuming of course we win all our remaining games as well.

Improbably we can finish 1st if the hawks lose both remaining games, the swans beat Geelong, and we win ours by so much we overtake the swans on percentage. Start with a 100 point win today.

Edit what Mike said

Unfair to the extreme .....

There's no way around it. Half the teams will be playing away games at each round of the home and away season. It's just the luck of the draw.

If we had beaten Essendon, and if someone could have punched through a behind against Sydney we wouldn't be in this situation. We are where we deserve to be. If that means two interstate trips in consecutive weeks then so be it.

This.

We've had our chances. The regular season isn't finished yet. We may still make top two yet.

Second position isn't out of the question yet but if it is between 3rd or 4th, who would you rather verse in Week 1 of the Finals? Hawthorn or Geelong? I think Freo should rest their key players but not in the same matches. Strong wins at this stage of the season is great for confidence boosting and a high percentage could decide the outcome between Fremantle and Sydney. Whatever happens must give Fremantle the best chance in the Finals. Good luck guys for the rest of the season.

Not unfair at all. Finish second and you earn home games. If not, too bad

Teams finishing 1st 2nd 5th and 6th get home finals.
Assuming we finish 3rd we would play 2nd.
There are 4 time slots Fri night Sat arvo Sat night and Sunday for week 1 of the finals.
Hawthorn would get a MCG final so to would Richmond Collingwood based on them being 5th and 6th.
You can only play 3 games at MCG on 1 weekend and you can not play 2 games in 1 day there.
So that leaves Geelong to play us Etihad on Saturday.
If we finish 2nd (Sydney beat Cats at Skilled Stadium) then we would still play on a Saturday but at Subi.
This is based all on everything going as most tipsters would predict and no unusual upsets.
You would think we would overtake Sydney on % based on the degree of difficulty remaining for the respective clubs.

Sydney could well grind out a narrow win at the cattery next week. If we secure an average type win against Port, we might well be second heading into the last week. We'd also be at good odds to keep it given our respective opposition in R23.

If Sydney win both games by 12 points or less in each game and Freo win both by 30 or more we will pass them and finish 2nd.
It's against the odds they will win both of them which also sees us making 2nd.

We are as likely to pinch 2nd as 3rd.
