First of all i havnt researched this but if someone could i would find it interesting. Last year we seemed to have big 3rd quarters like 6 7 8 goals and then run away with the match or simply get back into the game. It seems to be happening again this year. Out of all the teams, can anyone tell me who have had the consistant big 3 rd quarters and is this what gets teams to the finals. Against the roos i was prety calm at half time as i thought we only need 6 or 7 goals in the 3rd and we are back in and i remember we use to do it a lot. Then it happens against the tigers. Thoughts

I good to be 3 quarter specialists but our victories really count at the end of the year as we have momentum swinging in our favor if we make the finals. Also we need to be tight and consistent in the middle of the season as we had a mid season slump last year.

i dont think there is such a thing as a specialist for a quarter, takes all 4 quarters to win (not against shit teams), but if there is such a thing i would feel much more secure if we were the last quarter specialists :(

edit. didnt we score no goals in the third against the roos?

Just saw in the Hun's "extended ladder" that we have won the second least number of quarters out of everyone (4). Someone's got 3 (can't remember, it's not in front of me). So there's two ways to look at that:
1. We are way underperforming compared to our start last year, when we won a crazy number of quarters (and matches).
2. We are "good enough" to only play well for 1 quarter a week to win.

However, I'm sure we'd need to win 2+ quarters against Port this week, and besides, how can you notch up "percentage boosting" wins with so few quarters won.

Hey Loni from 50, mate you are the stats man and im lazy as i didnt look it up. Now i think i can confirm my thoughts. The first half of the year last year we looked on fire and good ladder position (we had blistering 3rd quarters) the second half of the year we fell back (crap 3rd quaters) I still believe we can all sit at the pub or the bar at the footy and drink for the first half of any game. The pies seem to put the show in in the second half, it has to be who ever has a blistering 3rd quater wins more times then not.
