So you think he will be every bit as good as the Bont then? Probably better based on what your saying?

Nothing against him again people get carried away with players and are easily to prove wrong down the track when we look back

Its the typical bias supporter whos wearing red and black glasses. Every fan on this site thinks hey have the next 22 superstars then they finish 15th and look stupid
Athletically yes, whether it will translate onto the field will only be found out in 2016.

Holy ****.

If I had a mum that hot I would have had some very conflicting thoughts as a teenager.

Settle down. Almost every kid has comparisons made to established players. It doesn't mean they're going to be that good but it instead gives people who may not get a chance to see them much get an idea of their playing style.

Will this bit of pre-season training for Kyle be aimed at getting him in the midfield next year or is it part of a transition from forward to mid then for him to be fully prepared for mid for 2017?
I would have thought Laverde will be playing serious minutes in the midfield in 2016, whereas Langford will be in 2017.

Ill admit i got the speed wrong still with as good as Langfords agility/moving through traffic is i still think Bont is superior in this facet as been shown to stand up at the highest level.

His tank is also not near Bontempellis.

According to advanced statistics, Bont is one of the most exceptional teenagers footballers we have seen for a long time. Based on output and efficiency, he is well ahead of Fyfe at the same age.

So can we lay off comparisons? Langford did okay in his first season - particularly given he was one of the younger draftees - but outside height there is really no plausible reason to compare him to someone like Bontempelli at this stage.

Bontempelli is not in the best 20 players in the AFL - he's not in the top 50 - He may sneak into the top 100 - It's a laughable stat.

How is Bontempelli potentially once in a generation player? I don't see it IMO.

No, we're comparing Bontempelli to a potentially once in a generation player. I feel for Bontempelli.

I think we're actually saying that Bontempelli is potentially a once in a generation player. Or at the very least it's been a long time since someone was so good at such a young age.

Based on what? Your gut feel from watching him for maybe a few hours?

Based on cold statistics, he was the 11th most productive player in the league over the past two seasons. Whatever the fault with the statistics, it is highly unlikely that he isn't a top 50 player in the league. In fact it's highly unlikely that the 11th most productive player isn't a top 20 player.

What I'm saying it it's unfair on Bontempelli to compare him to Langford. Bontempelli will have a lot to live up to. ;)

I don't see the point in comparing, both are very good for their age and a there's a lot of room for growth for both players over the coming years.

Langford is silky, cool headed and clever with the ball and has shown good signs at both VFL and AFL level that he has what it takes to bring it to the midfield; when this happens, not sure but I'm really looking forward to seeing what he brings in 2016.

I'm just trying to set Bontempelli's ceiling a lot higher than most, and in doing so, lower/temper our expectations of Langford. And anyways, I guess we're due for another superstar to take Ablett and Franklin's throne someday. Of all the young kids, Bonts might just be that shining star.

Comparing Langford with Bontempelli is slightly ridiculous;-

Langford: games - 8, ave disposals - 8, goals - 0.4, marks - 1.9, tackles - 2.4
Bontempelli: games - 37, ave disposals - 18.9, goals - 0.9, marks - 3.1, tackles - 4.6

I hope Langford really has an impact this year - but he still has a bit to do to reach the heights Bontempelli has already in his short career
