I'm sure it does but I'm convinced few clubs are as bad as us at it.
Our development is a shemozzle and has been for years. There's many factors but I'm sure this is a big part of it.
It'll sound stupid but I reckon it's partly a hangover of the Sheedy years... he loved "versatility" and throwing players around and I think it strongly influenced Dodoro, who is obviously a stupidly big influence on everything at EFC.
He looks for players that he thinks can do multiple roles and our whole s**t excuse for a "plan" for their careers starts to fall apart before it's started.
Pretty sure I heard Dodorro say something about him wanting to get the most talented players close to goal because that’s where they impact the scoreboard. It's interesting to look at how different the approach is at the top of the draft compared to later/rookie picks and SSP/midseason recruits.
We've had recent success with Martin, Durham, Mass, even Snelling has been a handy pickup. I think a big part of it is that there's (usually) far more consideration where they would fit into the system.
Whereas at the top of the draft it's a lot of, this guy is so talented, we couldn't pass him up, could be a midfielder, plays forward but has shown a bit in defence, he's going to need to develop some muscle but when he does - look out, etc.

Coleman Medallist, Karl LongfuaaaaaaaaarkFootball journalism is oft a loosely applied term, but this takes the cake.
Team firstHas the hamstring impacted his long kicking? Took a few marks around the 45m mark where I thought he should have had a shot from but he instead elected to pass.
LangutilityLangforward.

The best blend of all this is going to be Kyle LanguorforwardLanguor
Kicks 5 last week, starts in defence this week
Nothing changes at Essington
Give them a little time. It took them years to figure out he wasn't a wingman when it was obvious to everyone that was the case.Seriously, why try players in a position that they are unaccustomed too, for them to perform at an acceptable level, only to ignore them when the time comes.
KL didn't set the world on fire when starting in defence tonight. Move him fwd when Hind comes on and we see instant success.
Learnings all a round I suspect!!!
I think weve burned a Gunstonesque career (maybe even better individually than him) with our mismanagement of him.Give them a little time. It took them years to figure out he wasn't a wingman when it was obvious to everyone that was the case.
Yep. Flip, jones, langford was fine to persist with.Perfect opportunity to reward Baldwins work and they blew it. For all the talk of a young team, we blood kids like a tourniquet.
annoying as Scott said he wouldn't do that eitherSeriously, why try players in a position that they are unaccustomed too, for them to perform at an acceptable level, only to ignore them when the time comes.

Very Essington of us to do thatI think weve burned a Gunstonesque career (maybe even better individually than him) with our mismanagement of him.
