He’s like top 22 in the comp atm 😅. If anyone picked that at the start of the year they are a genius. I keep thinking it’s an imposter especially when he’s spoiling the ball like a 10 year defender. That just wasn’t in his repertoire before. 🤷‍♂️

Problem was I had Heppell taking his place . Anyway good to see him playing to his potential. We have only wasted 5 years of his career.

We burned 5 years trying to turn him into an inside big bodied midfielder, but it looks like his go is pretty much anything other than an inside big-bodied midfielder!

Definitely appears to play significantly better with a moustache.

The thing for me is he was such slow decision maker. I just haven’t seen that this year. Looks like he is playing of pure instinct and most times it’s going his way.

I've never thought he is a slow decision maker, what I've often thought is that we've been so poorly setup that there are no obvious good choices and he hates to waste the ball. The combination has made him look slow IMO.

That’s a fair point he definitely held onto the ball a lot opposed to moving it in the past. It’s hard to see a lot of setups on the TV.

Don't get me wrong, at some point many times he should have just made a decision. However what I like about him is he wants each disposal to be damaging and often I'd see we hadn't spread or kept distance around the contest to provide good options, or no one was leading. In these instances he'd sometimes get caught with it but in all honesty I'd prefer that defensively than handing it over for a quick turnover because it gives your team more time to run back and setup.

The end of 2018 when our pressure rating and work rate was high, Langford had his best block of games prior to this year and I don't think that's a coincedence.

We need a bigger sample size this year but I think if our work rate and structure remains sound, Langford will have his best year. I think one of the commentators on the weekend mentioned (just after Kyle missed a goal) that he's the highest rated kick in the competition so far this year.

Whats surprised me most with him this year is his strength and aggression. His body work on some of the more physical key backs has been very impressive.

I bet that missed spoil on Elliott has played on his mind as he has sought body on every opportunity that presents.

The biggest thing for me is that Langford has confidence in his size now.
He's absolutely bullying players in 2023, which is what he needs to do, he's not blessed with amazing agility, but he's great on the lead and can repeat sprint all day. He's become a strange Dane Swan and Jack Gunston hybrid.

Watching him blast May and kick that goal in the wet says to me we are getting something right at the club.

Players like Wright and Langford who (when younger) have had knocks on their physicality improved in HUGE strides with their confidence in their body.
This makes me think that Weideman could do the same thing.

that play for me was all about backing his footy nous
Have always said he's one of the more talented ball users in the side and across the league, and we're seeing it.
What he has now is a bit of confidence to just do what he sees can be done.

I'll admit, I always knew he had the goal accuracy, and I knew he was efficient by foot.
But I'd never noticed he was creative by foot. I don't know if it's his confidence, or my lack of awareness in this regard.
