The conspiracy theories around Obama's birth began during the primaries against Clinton, but yes, took on a life of their own after he was elected President.

I agree with you that only 2000's result was truly warranting contentiousness, but nonetheless the view of illegitimacy of the winner has been taken up by supporters of the losing party (and, occasionally, the loser themselves). And my point is that this feeling of the loser being wronged doesn't look like going away, as Russia continues to be a bogeyman for many Democrats, meanwhile a range of convoluted and, frankly, batshit conspiracy theories keep buzzing around the Republicans.

Private company trying to maximise profits.... without hurting anyone or destroying anything.... I can’t see why I should object.




Note:
I own 2 of the books and they are now collectors items, YAY!!! So I am going to be making money from 2 of the worst Seuss books ever written.

Bizarre how less visible fact checkers are where there isn't mass disinformation being deliberately disseminated.

What's your issue with a book company looking at its catalogue of children's books and deciding "Hey we probably shouldn't be printing books that depict Asians as inferior to white people and black people as gorillas"?
 
The funny thing about the Dr Seuss stuff is that Seuss was a liberal New Deal Democrat at the time, and many of his books were allegories about consumerism, environmentalism, the Cold War and the Red Scare, and about Civil Rights and racial equality. I can't recall the six books written (I've not read Dr Seuss in a couple of decades, much to my own detriment), but from the descriptions of the offending sections I'm surprised they couldn't just edit out the section of the pages, much as Disney has edited copies of Fantasia to crop the frame of the racist depictions of black Centaurs.

I'm generally anti-editing or censoring of historical works to bring them more into line with modern social values, but recognise that view becomes complicated when it's work aimed at kids like Dr Seuss' books or Song of the South (in itself, neither as bad as other things more readily available, such as the cinema of Leni Riefenstahl or Birth of a Nation; but kids aren't seeking out those things, hopefully!).

That said, I'm not sure how this specific issue has anything to do with Biden (or how Biden is apparently in the pocket of Xi and the Chinese Government). Broadly, there is an issue with liberals and the left having retreated to claim cultural power and given the right and conservatives full control over the real power in society, and so we're left putting a lot of effort into debating these comparatively minor issues all the while inequality widens and corporate malfeasance continues unpunished.

Someone in Texas was just arrested for Election fraud so I can't say there was none.

Seuss was a socialist. He taught morals to children, when others just wanted to sell them candy. No one is claiming he is racist. IF they were, all his books would be burned.... The book illustrations will be redone, just not this week.
