Have heard he destroyed Josh Walker when he played against Balwyn in Round 1
Trembath named in the best, Walker kicked 1 goal as Balwyn held to 8.14 for the game.

Balwyn fielding such luminaries as Kayne Turner and Ben Silvagni as well. And our own Lachie Young!

From his RookieMe Draft Profile - Obviously as a Defender.

Connor Idun as a defender and maybe fellow Giant Callum Brown as a forward are decent comparisons.

STRENGTHS:
  • Aerial ability
  • Intercept marking
  • Kick penetration
  • Strength
IMPROVEMENTS:
  • Ground balls
  • Speed
Despite missing out on Vic Metro selection this year, Cooper Trembath stamped himself as one of the Coates Talent League's premier tall defenders and earned a state combine invite to demonstrate some semblance of draft interest. He was a relative mainstay for Eastern across 13 games en route to the Grand Final, while also breaking through for a VFL debut with Frankston.

Trembath sits just below key position height but is aerially dominant and does his best work on the intercept. While other tall defenders fit the lean and athletic prototype, Trembath is a strongly built marker who times his moves well and has buckets for hands. Nearly half of his average 14.3 touches came from marks this season (6.8), including a 17-disposal, 14-grab effort against the Lions Academy in Round 7.

Given his in-between size, but aerial strengths and one-on-one craft, the 18-year-old has drawn comparisons to GWS backman Connor Idun. Should he enhance his ground level game, athletic profile, and ability to penetrate with ball in hand, Trembath looms as a value pick in the way of defensive depth late in the draft or as a rookie.

Great kid. Can play down back and up forward - have watched him do both over the last 12+ months. He’s an exceptional grab. So excited to have him be officially a part of our Kangas fam. 🥹💙🤍

That’s a ringing endorsement from a keen observer…. I’ll take that every day and then some over someone who will moan until the cows come home that we should’ve had xy or z….cheers Maddie.

Do we really think the club was hiding him?
Just makes no sense to only play him for one vfl game and think he’s worthy of a senior list spot.

Across this season we have had stacks of talls playing in the VFL. The only non AFL listed talls getting a crack have been Tomlinson & James Tarrant.

Trembath played in a heap of the match sim across the pre season, as well as the intra club, plus we’d be looking at him through the week at VFL training.

I think it’s a bit weird that we’ve picked him off the back of one VFL game but we’ve obviously seen enough in his local footy form, training and across the pre season to think he is worthy of a shot.

We’ve obviously hidden him away, doesn’t make sense otherwise.

That, or the spinny wheel landed on him, and Brady and Will said 'say less'
