Re: Rookie pick 33 - Matthew Wright - Player discussion

How bad was Wright's knee injury in rnd 22?

Someone get RL a beer

:thumbsu:

Stoked that we picked him up as it keeps him at North plus the fact that he is a quality footballer, good skills and a tough nut.

It really is fantastic that he has found himself on an AFL list after that incident a few years back.

Smart pick that one. Could come in and play straight away in place of one of the injuries.

David said he's a small midfielder....turned 20 yesterday :thumbsu:

Re: Rookie pick 33 - Matthew Wright - Player discussion

Highly doubt it, it's not the Crows style to do that. We usually make them earn it after playing in the SANFL for a while.

Bit different with a 20 year old with 40 something games SANFL experience who was a favourite for the Magarey.

I think hes a much better player than either Cook or Jacky who many think will be around the mark round 1.

Re: Rookie pick 33 - Player discussion

What incident?

Was kinghit at a party a couple of weeks before the draft two years ago, and I think even found himself in a coma for a while.

Drummond - you not a fan of him? I thought you were a fan?

Thanks macca. Is he a smallish midfielder that can play forward?

Re: Rookie pick 33 - Matthew Wright - Player discussion

One of my old Footy Budgets lists him as 179cm and 80kg. I often question their stats but this one looks about right.

I'm not the expert but he started as an 18 y o I think playing as a small forward with some success, and has since graduated into a midfield role in which he has excelled.

He can certainly find the footy but if I had a concern it would be lack of pace. Perhaps one of our North Adelaide followers can comment on this aspect as I've only seen him a few times.

Re: Rookie pick 33 - Matthew Wright - Player discussion

He's had a couple of good years going by the SANFL results. Regularly features in the goals and bests.

This season he made the bests in all but three games (out of eighteen games) and kicked 13 goals.

Last season he made the bests 6 of 15 times and kicked 17 goals.

Pretty much. Decent build on him but maybe lacks a touch of pace. Reminds me slightly of Porplyzia. Great inside ability but can play well off a forward flank as well.

I think hes a real good pick for the Crows and Id tip he'll find himself on the main list next year.
