Yep. He has to stop calling for the ball in positions which are of no benefit to the side but great for his personal stat line. If there is a directive to get the ball in his hands, then that needs to stop. The opposition are allowing him space to receive the ball. You don't want to fall into (the pretty obvious) trap of doing what the opposition wants you to do.
The club and its easily led supporters need to stop reading disposal tallies and instead use their eyes to see what is sadly, self-sabotage.
and thats the rub, other than perceived value as a distributor he has no other tools that add value to the backline. so effectively your going in a man short.

Wonder whether it would be worth trying him as a small forward?

We haven't had any luck with anyone else filling that role.

Hopefully next season we will have Arch, Lmac and possibly Goater fit (and god help us - even Corr) back into their natural defensive positions, then Daniel should be relegated

He is so easy to spot on field because he looks like a school kid wearing a bicycle helmet out there. So it is very easy to track him.

He does not pick up anyone 90% of the time. I don’t know if Clarko is getting someone to cover for him or the opposition have their own free player.

All I know is, his total lack of intercept possessions, total lack of spread, line breaking, this way-that way movement and 15m crab kicks does not make up for his diabolical defensive liability. Not even by half.

The only reason he looked competent against the saints is because unlike most other teams, Ross Lyon likes defending deep. All half backs rack up the possessions against the saints.

Caleb was in his element. He had all the space in the world to execute his tripe.

He doesn’t even defend, so he’s even worse than a liability. He’s pretty much bankruptcy
Roams around on his own most of the time. Then on the few occasions he has to show something defensively, he gets turned into a witches hat by max holmes or gets monstered in a marking contest by some 180cm stkilda nobody.

Not to mention how inept he is in defensive transition because he is so ****ing slow.

Signor Rawlings would be sitting back, feet up, sucking on a dirty fat Cuban. The Daniel/Whitlock masterstroke is akin to getting Sheezel & Wardlaw for JHF. It's starting to blossom.

He didn't turn up to Arden Street and get slow. He's always been slow.

Doesn’t look as bad when your crablike 10 metre kick finds a Bailey Dale in space to run or carry or a Bont to send the next kick 50 metres to the advantage of the team.

Sam Power knew we loved 30 nothing touches from his playing time with us and decided the tradition needed to be continued.

What a gent.

For realsies though, that one kick inside 50 was great, to repeat others I hope it was noticed by the powers that be.

I think Clarko has glued his magnet name to the team board for this year. Let’s hope he used that cheap shit Tarzan’s Grip and with the improvement and return of Goater/Archer and others over the offseason that glue flakes off.

Then CD can be jettisoned out of the defense for good. Play him the last 3 matches in the Forward line to see if he can salvage his career, and Clarko can salvage his reputation of still having some judgement of useful talent. Daniel this year at the Kangas can only be described as the Queen once said: Annus Horriblis

Pre-Trade Period 2024 -

Clarko to CD - "We need you to gives us some elite kicking out of the backline"
CD - "I'm a premiership winning half-back, I am capable of delivering for sure"

2025 Season -

Clarko to CD - "Remember that conversation we had in 2024 before the trade period about elite kicking from the half-back line"
CD - "I was in Japan and the reception was really bad, didn't hear what you were saying properly. In any case, aren't you impressed that I can waddle like duck on the field. Entertaining right?"
Clarko - "Do you plan on adding any value whatsoever to this club?"
CD - "Although my talent and capabilities have declined considerably over time, I can warm the bench up really nicely."

Had a guy sitting behind us last week, every time CD got the ball, he would say "Is that Daniel the lion tamer, or Daniel our son?" After the 25th time, I turned around & eyeballed him. He soon got it.

He brings nothing to the table - he’s our handbrake and we already had a few of them.
I can only remember one kick where he has opened up the opposition and that was against the godees in rd 2.
Clarko himself could do what Caleb is doing and I mean clarko now - crab kicking, can’t defend , slow as shit.

Don't think this is a Rawlings masterstroke!! I reckon this a Clarko directive and the 'but, but, but' and no buts from Clarko 'just get him'.

Pretty evident as he is immune to being dropped!

If this is true, he is weak and should resign. Or Viney should resign for not effectively managing the department.
