I don’t see a spot for him if McKercher is in the side. You just can’t play 2 attacking types that can’t defend one on one. Kerch provides genuine drive and speed which Daniel simply does not.

IMO Daniel’s 10-15m dinky kicks actually hinder our ability to attack off half back as they are too predictable and often not dangerous enough.
All they do is allow the opposition half forwards to set their defensive press up the ground,

In an ideal world Parker goes back. Gives us competitiveness and a physical edge. Might not accumulate as much, but is arguably a better kick and decision maker.

Then we add in Blamires as well, who can roost the footy, actually defend and provide genuine speed and link up play.

Hardeman to keep developing as the balanced defender who can provide run and lock down.
I’d rather fisher - at least he has speed and penetration in his kicking.
Defensive ability is both lacking

Fisher has slowed down since sporting that silly rat tail over the summer 😎.

Talk about another dud contract and waste of money for the club. He was not getting a game at Carlton at the pointy end of the season when they moved him on. These are called Red Flags 🚩 for any normal list management team.

They're called roll out the red lipstick tube at Arden Street.

He's best 23.

However, he's not an organizer, but is being used as such. He's also not a very selfless player to help the kids, but is being used as such.

My main issue with him is that he doesn't do the little things to release people and instead homes in on the handball receive side of things, and he doesn't show enough discernment to be playing that role.

Forward of centre, particularly the kick to get us to the launch pad, is IMO his go.

It is what it is. We gave up too much for him and that taints people's perceptions. The dogs themselves got Matt Kennedy for pick 38 who has become a vital part of their midfield.
I do feel more and more we were convinced Broad was coming to us and built a bit around it. He apparently verbally committed, went to tell Richmond he was leaving and got convinced to stay. He would have been a good organiser in defence.

What? Built what around Broad coming. Look at our backline. It’s a mess. A SSP player has been selected to play in Round 1 such is the state of our backline. :stern look

Oh by the way, was Broad miked up when he verbally committed to North? :stern look

Build was the wrong word. Create a stop gap to stop the hemorrhaging of points then move on when we're more stable.

Broad was interviewed start of last season and spoke about it.

Gee a stop gap. Rawling’s list build is going a treat. 🤪

Yes, but people justifying the trade by saying it was a speculative pick gave me the shits. They can wipe the egg off their faces now.

Yeah the value of the trade was always wrong. I was for trading in Daniel as he is limited but very smart footballer that certainly had value in some senior leadership but it really should have been for peanuts. Once the dogs started chasing a 2nd rounder we should have walked away.

Is a bit jarring they used it on a half back distributor.

Isn’t that what Caleb is?
That’s an overly simplistic way too look at it considering the Daniel, Parker & Darling moves were clearly to address a need of senior leadership.

The problem was the Dogs weren't chasing anything - we were, having approached a contracted player. When we'd reached terms with Daniel, we were stuck with the cost, since leaving the bloke at the altar would have caused such reputational damage other players/managers would be wary of dealing with us.

But just in passing, Dogs played that draft beautifully - replaced Bailey Smith with the best OOC mid available (Kennedy), who'd been told to leave by Carlton; that allows them to pay under for him, while getting overs for Daniel after we boxed ourselves into a corner. Then they picked up a handy lockdown defender in Budarick for peanuts (pick 37)

well played
