the guys bolded may be big (although I would argue warner and richards are debatable in that regard too) but they are not inside mids. Mcluggage has been playing wing most of his career, young/richards transitioned from running backmen to mids in the last 2 seasons and warner is half forward flank/midfielder hybrid.
Inside mids can also be allowed to win uncontested possessions. Really its the aim for all mids these days, to be able to do both. The game has far too much transition these days, to not be able to

Mcluggage has played the inside mid role for quite some time now

Tsatas doesn't necessarily have to be on Cripps his best match up at Brisbane is probably Mcluggage or Neale. Mcluggage more damaging so id take him out personally

Ed and Young are now mids. Ed is 188, Young is 189

There pretty big for mids

We may have different definitions. But guys attending over 60% stoppages in avg have be mids for me

Have seen a few rumours floating around that they have earmarked him to fill the defensive-mid role that Setterfield was playing.
Are they setting him up to fail?

He is a clearance specialist. I envision him to be the type of player that can use his speed to burst away from stoppages (which he hasn't really done yet). Whilst he can improve defensively, he neither demonstrates the endurance, the ability to wear contact, the ability to tackle player after player, the competitiveness in contests and the instinct to run defensively.

If he plays, I want him to play in a position that gives him the best chance to succeed. He simply isn't that type of player.

With his kicking skills if he can’t defend he’s not an afl player.

Your either a two way player, a one way player or a no way player and his disposal will see him always as a limited offensive option.

Setters got heaps of ball by constantly being in the contest and it will be the same for Tsatsas

Tsatas tackles plenty in the VFL in a role where hes ball chasing

His greatest asset right now is his size, discipline and determination, all features of a good negator

He can still win clearance as a negator

Atkins, Dunkley, Hewett ect win plenty

Atkins, Dunkley and Hewett are all extremely tough footballers who scrap for everything, I can't see how Tsatas can become this type of player.

Setterfeild wasn’t some defensive tackling beast at the start of his career either.

Tsatas showed he’s at the level at the start of last season. He also hasn’t gotten a good run from injury. Some kids we draft might go past him but he’s definitely capable provided he improves in some minor areas and a role is provided for him.

He is clearly working on the areas he needs to and hasn’t stopped training. Let’s get behind the kid instead of knocking him at every opportunity

Tony Lockett kicked over 1300 goals, maybe we should play Tsatas out of the goalsquare.

The best role for him at this point is the one they want to give him, so hopefully he takes it up with both hands. Good teaching opportunity, he will probably get burnt at times but that's ok, we know he can find the pill, he's clocked that aspect already.

This is similar to what we tried to do with Perkins at times this year, that didn't look great but helped with rounding out his game a bit more.

Tsatas at least has genuine midfield nous, Perkins struggles with that aspect.

Nobody wants him to fail.

Everybody would love him to be the player he was projected to be.

There are just differing views on whether this will happen.

There's a few posters who seem pretty invested in him failing. They've made a call, and they want to be right on the internet.

could say the same of those who are his most ardent supporters.

To me, I just see people with differing opinions. No need to make it personal.

Or let people have their opinion and then have the egg on face if they are wrong.

He has never been a hard at it player.

Few people could take this advice onboard when they're criticising players.
The criticisms are re players professional capabilities….or lack of.

Nobody is saying Tsatas is a bad guy. I have not seen a post criticising anything connected to him that was personal in nature.

There are those who think he’ll be good and those who don’t. That’s pretty much it. Neither view is more virtuous than the other.

Show me a post attacking him or any other player personally and I’ll be the first to condemn it.

Seems you're pretty determined to see what you want to see I guess.

He doesn’t need to be Caldwell or Durham hard at it to be successful in our midfield. In fact it probably benefits him that he isn’t bumping heads with those fellas.

On a side note

I’m just sick of the negativity around most things Essendon entirely. Too many PUBLIC (not Essendon forum) negativity from our supporters. Other teams feed off it and it’s cancerous for own club. You won’t see Essendon social media post without someone posting sack Scott.

If tsatas was at Geelong or hawthorn etc and not getting a game with his injuries, they would still be talking positively about how tsatas could contribute rather than the majority of us completely writing him off.

There’s rooms for improvement, but also plenty of things tsatas is very good at.

Just my 2 cents
