Glengarry Jack Ross

I remember hearing Ross (and rcd) were very keen to play afl coming out of u18s and may have not waited to get a spot. Very pleased Ross earned a gig
Seems like he has a real mature head on his shoulders just from the interviews and what not

A lot to like about him

Quote from Blair re Jack

“It has been great to see Jack contributing to a high standard this season and this contract is a reward for his efforts on and off the field.”

Shouldn’t underestimate the last part re his “off the field efforts” I was told by a father whose son played with Jack in u18 football that he was a great kid and a great leader.
After his first few games I thought future captain. Three years later and no closer, in fact further away, but he is finally trending up and a two year contract is just the thing he needs. Reckon his confidence has taken a bit of a hit in the last few years but he is starting to look like that player we say in his first season.

I think with Jack Ross he lost some confidence when asked to play other roles and develop his outside game more
Has taken him time but we are seeing glimpses and worth persevering with and a 2 year deal is a great result

Hopefully he takes the next step and become a starting 22 player in 2023 and gets more inside time and in turn more ball
Love to see him get more ball and have more impact and with more confidence this will come

Slow burn but headed in the right direction

Great signs that he had a great game in a final but I would like to know what he has done to Dimma that has caused Dimma to not wanting to put him in the midfield. Each time he looked great, it was when he was around the contest. He is a solid boy as well which we could of used.

Dimma persists with his favourites for too long. It's why it took an eternity for Castagna and Aarts to be dropped.

Thought he was best as a half forward, every time he touched it we scored. Having said that the more midfield time would be good, but at least how he has two positions to play and he is a solid replacement for Kane Lambert.

Despite the result, Ross was a huge highlight
His passing has gone to another level recently

Should be one of the first picked each week after another solid preseason
100%
Early on I was super critical of his decision making and use by foot but the last month or so he’s really nailed basically every pass he has made and also impacting on the scoreboard

He does not drop enough for one or two games just to refresh the mix. Players get too comfortable, others stagnate and a sense of entitlement creeps in I think. It is not just Castagna and Aarts.

Even some of the other players should be managed to give others a go at times. Compare us to Geelong. I know they are older, but a lot more in and outs

Geelong's ins and outs are more about nursing 30+ year olds through a whole season then rewarding form and with their position in the top four locked in a fair way out they had the luxury to do that

There are a lot of kids like him who were done no favours during that significant Covid period - was very unlucky say I. He's now projecting upwards!

Thought he played great

I've always thought he was vanilla and plain. He showed some poise and tricks tonight

AND, gets to good spots - that has taken time to learn when you are the twenty fifth banana

Yeah I don't get it. Looked like a gun inside mid in his first couple of games and has barely stepped foot back in there since

Hopefully it was an effort to evolve his outside game and running capacity but now lets see him crack in again please Dimma

His best two games have come in his last two with him in that Lambert/Graham high half forward/mid role. Seems to suit him. He takes his time more with ball in hand rather than constantly dump kicking it forward to no one like he does when he's in the guts.

Thought he was one of our better players last night. Composed, didn't try to do too much with a slippery ball, ran hard all night to provide an option and his goal was terrific in the context of the game at that point. Needs to build on it, but positive signs.

I’m a solid Jack Ross fan - keep him in please.
