He's like a dear in headlights at the back. Totally useless.
As a forward, he looks the part - can take a mark and can kick straight too.
Hopefully they've found the right position for him.

He drifted forward a couple of times in the first two rounds and I thought he looked good, and he only looked better with an extended run there tonight. His impact was noticeable from the moment he went down there.

With Alex Johnson looking very sound and surprisingly physically developed, we probably have the flexibility to keep Everitt up forward, allowing Goodes to spend more time in the midfield.

I wouldn't jump to any conclusions just yet, the first one he was interfered against by a very short opponent in Hurn (not sure how this happened given the Eagles had 3 tall defenders) and I can't remember the last one. He was struggling in defence though and if he was playing any good down back he wouldn't have been moved given the Eagles' forward height. I think part of the reason they made the switch, apart from Reid's injury, is that they felt he was being a real liability down back.

He's definitely not a defender though, gets outbodied and outpositioned too easily. Reminds me a lot of Jason Saddington, whose best position IMHO was as a wingman.

Played a very good role up forward but it's yet to be seen what suits him best. Has struggled as a defender so far, It's safe to say he'll be used down back more so than often this year as we are struggling down back as it is but short stinks up forward wouldn't be bad idea as we saw tonight. Moving up to play on the wing could also work well.

He's trying to fill Kennelly and Mal's role as the go-between from the backline to the midfield, but he lacks confidence, and too often tonight he took the ultra-conservative approach and went backwards. His kicking skills aren't as good as either Tadgh's or Mal's, but he seems good overhead...

Our backline is struggling ATM, but that's another story...

Disagree, I don't think defensive skills are Tadhg or Eski's forte either but they make do with their effort and do not appear flustered under pressure which seemed to get to Everitt at times tonight in defence. Also, Everitt is a very good kick and is dual footed.

There's no doubt he struggled down back and looked pretty good tonight in the forward line but i think he'll be used as a utility, he just needs to settle into the team and work on his defensive game and he'll be able to play forward, back and on the wing

What about rohan though, he looked better in the forward line, I don't like him being used in the backline, granted he was fresher than his opponents but I've always liked him closer to goal

Saddington is a very good analogy. Great to see tonight, but in congestion he's going to struggle from what I can see. Almost too laconic for the modern game. The jury is still out for me.

I saw Everitt play a few games up forward last year in the AFL and the VFL and he looked much more natural there than down back.

That's all well and good, but atm we need men down back given our injuries, not really up forward. When LRT and Tadhg are back in fit I'd like to see Everitt played up forward a little more.

I don't care where he plays as long as it's not the ****ing backline. He was useless there.

He played well forward on Saturday night but apart from that short stint he hasn't been very impressive so far.

I was pumping him up(so was the club) in the hope he would/could fill a spot down back, 'useless' is a bit harsh new team an all learning new game etc he showed glimpses, but he was impressive forward. Ive seen worse become very decent backman with perseverance, he is very handy though.

Yeah, maybe a bit harsh I guess.

But I wrote that at lunch in a bad mood as the caf had run out of soy chai latte.

A better title would have been A.Everitt is versatile.

will someone pleeeeeeease tell Horse to get Everitt out of the backline. He is a serious liability down there. Put him we he so obviously plays better and is in a far more relaxed frame of mind. He IS a forward, no doubt, if not, anything but a backman.

If not for injuries Everitt would not be in the team......forward or back! Poor kicking skills under pressure and poor decision maker. He is a depth player at best. Once LRT, Kennelly, Heath and even Spangher are fit he will not get a game. Only consolation is that he is no more of a waste of time than Veszpremi.

Bit harsh. Kicked 2 crunch goals last week, took some great marks. I don't think the club have decided his position yet. We'll see...

Time will tell. He will be dropped as soon as LRT and Kennelly are back. Let's see whether he forces his way back into the team without injuries.

We cannot afford to have Everitt and Shaw in the same team with their pathetic kicking skills. Both players were happily released from their previous clubs specifically because of this problem. I admire Shaws determination, pace and commitment but his kicking is a liability in the back line. Everitt.........well he has very few endearing qualities and is more than a liability......he is a sunk cost.

I like Everitt, but not as a defender. He was moved forward tonight and contested well in the wet, but like every other marking forward on the night bar feckin Posdiadly, he couldn't hang on to the wet ball. He was then subbed off as soon as it started drying up, which I thought was a very odd move. We could have used a quick guy who could take a mark up forward in that last quarter.

While he wasn't fantastic, he can't be blamed for this one. We lost that game inside our 50. We had NO structure, it was pathetic.

I miss Malceski. We need someone in back line who can kick. Even Reg can be sus by foot. The problem is not our forwards it is the kicking from our half backs and mids into the forward line. Very very very poor.

Everitt subbed. Dropped next week :-)

I think you'll find that they're all dropped for next week!

Bit harsh on Everitt too and just like a ruckman, taller players generally take a while to get going. He'll be good for us, preferably forward, but if he's half as good as his brother was, he'll make it!

I thought he was also the wrong substitution tonight and Jetta should have been the one subbed (he was like a deer in the headlights tonight) with Everitt moved forward to provide another tall target and stretching the Geelong defence.

I miss Mal too, but don't forget we played in the pelting rain. Keep your criticisms for conditions that allow for it IMO.
