Congratulations Geelong Football Club

First team in AFL/VFL history to win 18 games or more in the H&A season 3 years in a row. Thought this deserved a mention. Now lets hope they can win their second premiership! Go Cats!!!

Indeed, and while it ain't the Premiership flag, it does say to all that Geelong has now won 57 of the last 66 home and away games. Bit better than most others going around, and a darn sight better than Dees or Tiger fans that's for sure. Cat fans of times of yore should be enjoying this period, as it beats those 9-13 or 10-12 seasons we had under Ayers, and that sequence of 11-11 or thereabouts seasons that dogged us in the mid 80's.

Go Cats....Four more weeks of dedication and full-on effort, and you can touch greatness!

Greats stuff , another notch on the belt.
and can I say CF , you are the Hutchy of Bigfooty. well done

Re: Congratulations Geelong Football Club

Absolute Legends god i love this team:thumbsu:
Bring on September!

I was just looking for a thread on this. I can't believe it's the first time it's happened! Still a mighty fine achievement. :thumbsu:

You only have to look how Hawthorn have backed up to see how tough it is and why no one has achieved it before. Infact the Hawks only won 17 last year. We just need that second flag now.....

Great ****in effort catters! give 'em hell in the finals!

Probably since only 24 teams have managed to win 18 or more games in the 40 years that they have played a 22 game season (including Geelong and St Kilda this year). And I'll bet Geelong are the first and only team of the 24 to have been written off before the finals have even started.

That wasn't the only record we broke yesterday. We racked up 142 touches in the first quarter, which was the highest number of disposals in a first quarter EVER! :D

Scarlett, Milburn, Wojcinski, Kelly and Enright combined for 59 touches in the first term, which was 4 more than the whole Freo side managed to accumulate! Milburn had 15 touches in the first term himself, which was equal to or more than 16 Freo players managed for the day.

Thought i heard somewhere that it was the longest home ground winning sequence????
Not sure if anyone else can help with this?

I'm not sure. Port beat us there at the end of 07 so I assume we have played 16 games at kp since for 16 wins. Quite a streak but it doesn't look like one that you'd automatically assume to be a record. You'd think Eagles in the 90s would have strung quite a few together at subi and then Pies/Bombers/Blues back in the vfl at their suburban grounds.

Having a look at the Eagles. They won 20 straight at Subi between May 2004 and August 2005.

Brisbane won 18 straight at the Gabba between June 01 and June 02 as well.

I read somewhere that it was our 16th straight win at Skilled, but our 22nd straight home win, which includes home games at Skilled, MCG and the Dome.
