Not me.

One is a pick 5 in his second season, the other is a middling good player mid career. The first could be a top end talent, that's why they get taken high in the draft.
We need more top end talent, less role players.
*Could*. Stephens hasn’t exactly set the world on fire yet, in Dawson we’re talking about proven production from a guy that’s 24 (i.e. in an age bracket in which we’re lacking in talent)

Like I said, I like Stephens, but in reality he’s still got a ways to go to cement himself as an AFL talent. Dawson’s already there. This isn’t a Dumont situation either where we’d be picking up a truly middling player

Then the media talking up how we missed our target. Well played by his Manager.

Likely gets some more money for Dawson too in the deal. It does seem like we've been used to drive up his price to stay at the Swans.

I'm ok with it too, I'd be doing what I could to stretch the Swans salary cap. They're looking like they'll be in a pretty scary place post-rebuild.

How is Sydney's cap?

They are still playing $1.5m pa for Buddy.

First time Matt Rendell should be on the money but I doubt the thought has even crossed our guys minds, obviously pointing to the fact the Berg played some decent footy back in the 2 year's before we drafted him. I'd really like us to at least give him a go down back while Talia's out.

“I wouldn’t have thought you would need to take Jack Hayes, unless they’re thinking that Himmelberg could end up back. That’s the only thing I’m thinking.”

Why would we do that, we've got 2 guys recruited to play that role that are currently 2nd and 3rd in a line of 1.

I look forward to Dawson signing with the Swans in a month.
He's from Robe, not Adelaide. So a bit of a Lachie Neale situation where Adelaide isn't really home for him and may not be a lure

He can car pool with Fogarty as Lucindale isn't too far away.... same with Hinge with Mundulla.

Explosive - nope
Agility - nope
Long kick - nope
Accumulator - tick
Contested beast - nope

Great accumulator and endurance, but doesn't burst from stoppage or kick long goals on the run. No x-factor.

Vanilla, but goes to show, nothing wrong with vanilla.
Duncan one of the best by foot and great vision, two assets that are vital, he makes things happen. People need to watch more closely

McAsy isn't ready and Murray is more a stop gap rookie pick up that's why.
Worrell is not a KPD and the Berg is yet to make a forward role his own

I have no idea. That said, I'm certainly worried about Sydney at the moment, seeing they're certainly well on the way to being a contender for the better part of the next decade.

I'd be surprised if there is any lure to leave Sydney.

I think we're seeing the classic move of a manager leaking it to the media that a team with deep pockets is interested, to get Sydney to stump up a bit extra money, or security.

They'll never be ready if we plonk a fringe performer in front of them that denies them games because he's experienced and ok at the role. This is how we got to where we are in terms if list balance in the first place.

This smoke is from where other than from nuffies like us on the Roos BF board and a couple of VAFL employees kicking around some SA players names we should target?

This was the point of my initial post. For some reason the idea that Frog is a done deal to you guys has emerged on our board. It clearly isn't.

A fringe performer up forward, there have been plenty of under performing forwards over time that have been switched to defence and found their niche, Liam Jones being just one example, now one of the better performing key backs in the AFL.

Why you'd prefer that ahead of Murray, who looked fine down there (and ok up forward) and a pick 6 drafted as a key defender with 2 preseasons under his belt is very surprising. I'm all for throwing these moves mid-game if required or when injuries necessitate. Plus we've got Talia to return. So we bring in another stop gap, but a forward/ruck this time, to push Berg to 3rd in a line of 1 with Murray and a pick 6 KPD behind him. The only way we should be interested in this bloke as a forward is if we're expecting or pushing either Berg or Billy out this year.

You wouldn't have been one of those saying Thilthorpe wasn't ready until he magically was when his name appeared on the team sheet.
