The trouble is he is very limited outside the midfield.

He's 100% midfield time or zero.

Start playing Laird, Crouch and Keays (on top of Sloane) and it becomes very difficult to see our coaches giving minutes to the next gen

Our coaches don't run a deep rotation. 4 mids sharing 100% of the minutes is the fixed strategy. Whether he's 100% midfield or not is irrelevant, all our mids are 100% mids by design regardless of whether they can rotate through other spots or not.

Supposedly he wants to go to Melbourne based club, not Adelaide. Another Aish type, wants the big Melbourne spotlight. Essendon and Pies the two in to him.

Here's a few trade questions.

Strachan seems to be popping up as an option on other boards. Would you trade him to someone like the Western Bulldogs, and grab another lower league ruck in the rookie draft for backup? Maybe Strachan, pick 24 and 37 for pick 16?

Doesn't really value Strachan from a points perspective, but gets the upgrade across the line.

What about something like Pick 4 and 37 for Dawson, Stephens and pick 12? Get two useful pieces and still get someone like Mattie Roberts.

What about Rankine and 19 for our 2022 First?

I’d trade ROB before I traded Strahan.

Stephens feels like Hately… could work out.

Dawson is a ripper. We will have to pay $ to get him … and we should.

Rankine is potential in a can. We will have to give up something to get him out of GC, he ain’t coming for nothing.

Next year's first is unknown unless they somehow trade in a shit truck of points into this year.

I tend to agree, they’ll want a 1st or will attempt to turn him around next year. Have to stop losing players.

The only thing potentially going for us is salary cap space. As you’d expect we should, we apparently have plenty, vs the suns whom are supposedly tight and have Rankine on an apparent $700k/year. If they’re keen to clear it and identify Rankine as a likely “lost cause”, might be willing to part with him for a 2nd and a sweetener.

No one would suggest he’s earned that coin, but we probably can afford to pay it and might be willing to take the punt.

Why would GC need Strachan with Witts to come back next year?

GC is the default team to create hypothetical trades with, also 22, 23 and 24 would be nice.

posters aren't neccessarily keen, it's simply that whilst we might want 2 genuine ruckman, the second rarely hangs around awaiting injury for games if there's clubs offering up a first ruck spot.
