Assuming we do get Dawson, who does he replace in the 22?

Perhaps Seedsman on a wing? Or do we play Dawson in the midfield?

With Milera coming back, we seem to be well stocked for running half-back flankers. Or do we consider trading one?
Exactly, our 22 is stacked full of talent, why are we even thinking about Dawson??

Maybe we try playing with two wings...

I actually think even though injured all the time [emoji17] Milera could play anywhere and if ever fit, will be our best player! I'd try him in the centre! Or wing given we have good inside mids set to play. Has to be as mush involved as possible for me! If ever fit [emoji848]

O'Connor's list position and contract amount is presumably now contingent on what happens during free agency and trade weeks - he gets whatever is left over
Yep... they usually keep 1 player in limbo until the end of the trading period, to give them the flexibility if something favourable shows up.

Believe it or not, you can play Seedsman, Dawson, Milera, and Smith all in the same side

Seed was #3 in our B&F... & in the AA squad.

He won't be dropped anytime soon.

Mackay

Milera is made of glass, we should have low expectations of what he may do post injury.
If Milera is lacking full fitness, would we consider using him as a small forward?

His best football has been off half back, buy may be a way of transitioning him back in to AFL.

Will be happy it he plays at least half of the season in the AFL in reasonable form.

We've been very rigid with our structure:

Four inside mids - the end. No one else rotates through.

Seven defenders with one on the bench at all times - the end. No one else rotates through.

Two main wingmen with one of the half forwards shifting up when either of them are on the bench - the end. No one else rotates through.

Hopefully we gravitate to a more fluid structure over time.

No, his best football for us was half forward, he was taken to the cleaners by his opponent when playing half back on many occasions because he doesn't have a defensive bone in his body, most memoraby when old man Ablett and his 90 year old hamstrings ran circles around him. Even an attacking half back has to defend sometimes, and he doesn't. They should spend at least half the season running him forward and then midfield in the SANFL before he gets anywhere near the league side.

Respectfully disagree.

Imo his most consistent forn has been off a hbf.

He's also set to have another disrupted preseason as he is still recovering. Doubt he will be anywhere near playing by R1.

Davis is the same. He's been told he will have to wait until after trade week

How I'd tweak the structure of our 22:

Expand our midfield rotation from 4 to 5:
Three inside mids, high half forward + a bench spot. All players to spend time in each position.

Decrease our back 7 to a back 6:
Five defenders + a bench spot.

Expand outside player rotation:
Two wings, half back, half forward + a bench spot

Forwards (plus ruck)
4 forwards, one ruck + a bench spot

Keeps some semblance of structure, is not completely dissimilar with what we've been running but leaves a bit more room for flexibility and growth.

Eg these groups with one bench spot for each:

Mids: Keays, Laird, Sloane, Crouch, Schoenberg

Defenders: Butts, Murray, Doedee, Brown, McPherson, Jones

Outside: Seedsman, Smith, Dawson (I can dream), Cook, Milera

Forward/Ruck: Walker, Thilthorpe, Fogarty, McAdam, one small forward and ROB

Perhaps you need to go back up the line and read all the posts in this conversation rather than jumping in half arsed.

About Port I said “contender now with good young talent and ability to attract players”. Perhaps being a contender now is what’s important to Dawson and he also identifies their young talent and ability to attract players.

We can talk about who will be better by the end of their careers but a lot can happen by then and perhaps Dawson wants to bank the best chance he has of winning a flag now by going to a contender.

As for not caring about them and knowing enough about them, then why the fuxk would you jump into a conversation about 2 clubs and highlight your ignorance about one of them?
Gee whiz mate. You've got a lot of confidence for a newcomer. However, your dismissive arrogance seems familiar.

Smells like chicken 🐓
