The question is, with so many young players, would lienert only be wasting his time with us also. Because he would have to be behind our listed defenders. Worrell needs massive game time. I think we can afford to be clever and start organising some project players on our rookie list. Like a ruckman or kpf forward. The ones that won't grow into their bodies for 4 or 5 seasons.

Wasnt woodcock supposed to be this gun player that was to take port by storm.

Hinge is another I keep forgetting about, could surprise this year. McPherson isn't a Brown replacement

Assuming we bring in a top end mid at 4, then with him, pedlar, schoenberg, berry, laird, crouch we are well covered for mids going forward. I would keep jones as a back pocket and set him to play that role going forward. He offer great closing speed, a good kick, toughness and some poise back there and should be the eventual brown replacement as a small defender

Yep. I can see Jones eventually playing Brown’s role, but with more attacking flair. His defensive work last year was actually really good IMO, so he won’t be a liability when matched up against small forwards, unlike someone like McPherson

The more two-way smaller players you can have in your defence, the better

Lienert is 195cm so can still play on the talls. Hes taller than Worrell and Murray.

I would prefer to back in Worrell & Hinge as the 3rd tall defender types, along with Doedee.

27 years old and still hasn’t made it? Not going to be in our next flag push so why invest a list spot and games into him.

Are you high? Hinge doesn’t play the dour stopper role, he’s the run and create defender which we need. If he’s fit, you don’t replace him with ****ing Leinert. As for McPherson his last couple of months were pretty good, why would you replace him with a tall???

They call it young solely because of the big 3 - Duursma, Rozee and Butters. Then they have that emerging youngster - Wines.

Happy for Rowe to get 1 more year with that extra preseason in him. Big adjustment for him as well. He'd have been used to getting clear of his opponent and used as a target at SANFL level. In our system nearly all our entries are to Tex on a lead or long, high and deep. Trying to hit up Rowe 10m clear of an opponent 40 out is a big no no in terms of our forward entry strategy.
