Adelaide vs Bulldogs

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Gees! I'd love to be able to catch you guys without Carey, Stevens or Johncock in the side. I'm pretty confident that Stevens and Johncock will be right to play, though. Nonetheless, it should be a good game and we're looking forward to it. We haven't been able to string consecutive wins together since rounds 17 and 18 of 2002, so that has to be in Adelaide's favour.

I wish you guys the best of luck. FWIW, I will post my Bulldogs starting line-up if you guys are wishing to do match-ups or what not.

BA: Koops, Harris, Gilbee
HB: Harrison, Grant, Smith
CE: Eagleton, West, Giansiracusa
HF: Boyd, Bowden, Johnson
FO: McMahon, Rawlings, Robbins
RU: Darcy, Hahn, Murphy
INT: Street, Skipper, Cross, Cooney

IN: Johnson, Gilbee, Skipper
OUT: Hargrave, Faulkner, Garlick

Hopefully if the doggies come over feeling a little complacent it could give us a chance to win the game.

If you were looking for the ultimate comment that explains just how bad we are at the moment, this is it.

Yep, we're really consistent so that'll be in our favour. :p

Agreed though, it should be a good game for all you Bulldog fans.

For the Crows, well you never know with us. One day we're beating Port by 30+ points, the next we're losing to Carlton at home.

Perhaps there's a fleeting chance we will get to see the likes of Fergus and Rutten. Ayres said it himself. If they do play, well then, there's something to look forward to. :)

Without Carey and Stevens heres my ins and outs:

IN <--- Rutten, Jericho, Gallagher, Watts
OUT ---> Bock, Carey, Stevens, Schuback.

If one of Stevens or Carey is ok, leave Watts in SANFL, if both ok, leave Jericho in as well but one at least will miss, Carey for sure I think.

I agree with most of those INS and OUTS.

However, I believe that we should persist with Schuback. Two very ordinary games is not enough in my books to warrant an ommision.

Bock, however, has probably not shown enough for his 5 or 6 games. For a man of his size he should not be dropping easy chest marks or be beaten in contests by opponents much smaller than him. He needs a rest from the AFL and, when he comes back, should be used as a defender.

The Walls and Rutten should come in before Watts, purely because of their experience at AFL level. With Jezza kicking 3 majors on the weekend, and Ruts getting in the best, they deserve nothing less.

Playing Gags is a tough one, because he probably deserves it but seems to stumble a bit at AFL level. He's shown promising glimpses but really needs to make an impact before the end of the season.

Hows Perrie's form been in the SANFL, will he be recalled?????

He was hardly noticable for North Adelaide against Sturt until Jarman put him in the ruck, (and he's not going to be a ruckman anytime soon).

Ladhams had a very good game for the Roosters, though.

Actually it was a great game, except that Sturt lost.

So we wouldnt expect him to get a recall for CHF then???

If you guys miss Carey, Johncock,Stevens and anyone else that would be great.
The Doggies are going to be playing for their season and if i were adelaide f.c i wouldn't be taking in 50/50 players because the game will be played at a fierce pace.
Will be a crackerjack game.
Also live on Foxtel which is a bonus.

A ruckman must go out IMO - either Biglands or Hudson. Would bring in another KPP - Rutten ahead of Watts if weather OK, otherwise Jericho.

Would keep Schuback in the side for another week, but agree it is probably time to drop Bock to the SANFL as he has been given a good run. Would probably bring in Ladhams, ahead of Jericho.

Carey & Stevens would depend on how they come up from injury, but obviously not worth risking either if they don't come up. Would bring in Watts if either doesn't come up & Perrie if they both don't.

outs - Carey Stevens Hudson Doughty

Ins - Watts Rutten Jericho Gallagher
Doughty

I agree with the mjority of those INS and OUTS...

But what's wrong with Dogga? He picked up 17 possessions against West Coast and showed several instances that he has the pace and vision to keep up with the pace of AFL.

Surely the likes of Bock, Bode, etc should be ommited instead of Doughty?

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this Jars.

Yeah fair point. It was merely because I see Gallagher and Doughty as similar and would like to see Gags get a bit of a go for a few weeks as Doughty has

Same goes for Bode who I think needs to be given four quarters on the ball.

But, Bock out for Gags would be fine too.

Mainly I want Gags back in and was looking for another player to leave out.

I reckon Doughty will probably play out the rest of the year on the wing. He has been a consistent second-string midfielder.

Ugh.. another really horrid game coming up.

The Dogs have had a poor season on the scoreboard, but they've not really got blown away at any stage. They lack skilled players but try to make up for it with honest hard work.

They must caught the Saints napping, (I dunno I was at the SANFL game on Saturday) and will be playing with a lot of confidence after that big win. And, unlike Sydney they didn't injure half their squad in the process.

Quite the opposite: the dogs are full of skillful, running and unfortunately completely unnacountable players. the hard , tough, hacks of 97 are largely gone from the team.

you can pencil in your outside midfielders to have a field day against us, as ours will against yours unless your side mans up tightly. McLeod just LOVES to play the dogs.

Grant to play on Carey and give him a bath - two old experineced campaigners, but ours can still raise his arms above his head.

Harris to play on whoever is your tall best forward.

Street should be able to nullify Clarke based on height alone, and they can both run around getting about 3 possessions each for the entire game, so thats not going to help anyone. We will be happy to take that matchup so that darce can spend most of his time in the goal square.

If you have any small forwards in good form, they will probably kick half a bag. everyone elses has.

It will come down to the midfield. If you can put an effective stopper on West, and McLeoud and Riccuito both have good games, you will get the points.

Clarke should give Street a bath, but you have a bloke called Darcy who can play a bit. Don't think you can afford to play him solely as a forwards.

Reckon there is a chance Smart will return for his farewell game. Hopefully this will give the Crows a lift like Southern's farewell game did against the Crows at the Dome.

With Smart's retirement, change of plans.

Ins: Smart, Rutten, (Watts), (Jericho)
Outs: Bock, Hudson, (Carey/Stevens if injured)

With the likely loss of both Carey & Stevo, probably need to play Perrie for his experience, unless Kenny is moved forward.

B: Smart, Bassett, Torney
HB: Johncock, McGregor, Mattner
C: Doughty, Ricciuto, Reilly
HF: Schuback, Perrie, Edwards
F: Hentschel, Rutten, Bode
R: Clarke (Biglands), Stenglein, McLeod
I: Biglands (Hudson), Watts, Shirley, Skipworth

Out: Hudson (Clarke), Carey, Stevens, Bock
In: Rutten, Watts, Perrie, Smart

Since you have two Ruttens, can we please have two players that go by the name of Brian Harris? ;)

Only if you trade one back to us in 2005! ;)

Perrie's had his chances and has failed to deliver. Ayres seems to have an inconsistent love affair with him though, so expect him to play this week and be ommitted the next. ;) Frankly, I hope not.

I agree with Hudson being dropped, as Huddo probably needs a rest, especially considering the fact that Biglands was more effective against the Coasters and needs another game. Rutten needs to play, despite his lack of pace he is a very strong mark. If he does play, don't be surprised to see him play in defence.

Watts may still be too early, although Gary has hinted that Fergus will be playing. If Watts does not play, expect Jericho to play instead. If not, Bock will most likely keep his spot in the side.

Therefore, my exclusive INS and OUTS are...

OUT: Hudson (ommited), Bock (ommited), Carey (inj), Stevens.
INS: Smart, Rutten, Jericho, Watts.

Four talls for Four talls.

I can't recall Perrie playing 1 full game this year at CHF, where he is best suited. ie. Don't reckon he has been given a fair go.

Who would you play at CHF on Grant? Watts?

Got the feeling AFC will bring in Welsh, even though he should come back via Westies given his poor 2004 form.

Good point, Welsh will most likely play given he is injury free. He's had some very average games this year, but would have to be one of our most accurate kicks. Alas (like Nick Davis) he does not get enough of it to punish his opponent.

I also realised that my INS and OUTS were a little inexperienced (except for Smarty of course). In fact, Perrie may get a game this weekend in order to bring some experience. With Carey and Stevens likely to not play, only Watts, Perrie, McGregor or Rutten could play on Grant, and I have the feeling both Fergus and Ruts would get toweled up by the Bulldogs skipper.

Unless of course, McGregor plays at CHF and Watts plays at CHB. But that would be too big a job for Fergus on his (likely) debut.

So then Kane, Perrie it is.

Grant would towel up McGregor also. In form he may be the best CHB in the comp.

Rutten might trouble him with his marking and one-on-one strength, and Grant has also lost some pace, though not sure how he would compare to Rutten there.

Watts' mobility and enthusiasm might trouble Grant, but Grants bodywork would probably school Watts.

Perrie knows how to play CHF the best out of the lot so may give a good contest with Grant.

Well Perrie must be really out of favour if he couldn't make this weeks team.

Wonder what the issues are here, as he hasn't been played in his best positions all year. Then again IMO I believe he's been carry some injury as well for a fair part of the year.?
