Another game I see us losing at this early stage.

IN: Reilly, Schuback, Torney, Bode, Watts, M. Stevens (if he pulls up OK)
OUT: Shirley, Mattner, Skipworth, Begley (inj), Bassett (inj), Welsh (if he doesn't get suspended he should be dropped)

_F: _ 6. Fergus Watts _ 19. Mark Stevens _ 26. Jacob Schuback
HF: _ 18. Graham Johncock _ 2. Wayne Carey _ 30. Luke Jericho
_C: _ 33. Brent Reilly _ 32. Mark Ricciuto _ 40. Chris Ladhams
HB: _ 3. Kris Massie _ 16. Ken McGregor _ 9. Tyson Edwards
_B: _ 15. Jason Torney _ 37. Trent Hentschel _ 34. Ben Hart
1R: _ 4. Matthew Clarke _ 20. Tyson Stenglein _ 23. Andrew McLeod

INT: _ 10. Matthew Bode _ 11. Michael Doughty _ 13. Ben Hudson _ 44. Nathan Bock

Thoughts??????

I like that line-up Stiffy. It has some fire power up forward for a change.

Where are Burton and Goodwin at with their injuries at the moment Stifffy??

A pretty good side, but there are still some mistakes.

- I think Ladhams would be pretty lucky to get a game next week. Personally, I don't think he did enough. (probably due to lack of ground time).

- I still don't know about Watts. He did quite well today (2 goals) but it still might be too early for him. Besides, he's already under so much pressure, cause' everyone's thinking he's the answer our contested marking problems.

- I would not expect Stevo to get a game after just one SANFL match. Sure, he kicked 8 goals ( ) but we DO NOT want to rush him back in.

- Don't call me Shirley, Rattner and Skippy would all be pretty stiff not to get another game. Shirls was pretty good in defence, Mattner was not that bad, and Skippy had his moments and needs another game.

- Even if Watts was put in the side, Fergus would most likely start of the interchange, not Bock.

Apart from this though, not a bad effort Stiff. :)

My ins and outs:

INS: Reilly, Torney, Rutten/Watts

OUTS: Begley (inj), Basset (inj), Welsh (ommited).

Rutten or Watts would add some contested marking ability in the forward line.

I think Goody is still another couple of weeks away. Not sure whats the story there but apparently he injured himself.

Burton can come back through SANFL. He has been disgraceful.

Smart will miss at least another week.

Surely you jest.

Mattner, did not hit a target once on friday. He even managed to miss a team mate 2 meters away from him with a handball with no collingwood player in sight. That is UNFORGIVEABLE.

Skipworth, got caught with it TOO often. He passed off 2 times within scoring distance which would suggest that he can't kikc over a can of coke.

Shirley did alright but I would rather play Bode.

Thanks for the reminder. I meant to query this one. He definitely hasn't done enough to be in there IMO.

Surely you jest, Stiffy. ;)

Not only did Mattner find close targets, he has also added some grunt to a side that serverely lacks intensity.

Mattner also played the majority of the game on Lonie and Woewodin, who basically had no real effect on the game.

And that handball? Yes, it was there, but at least he gave a second effort, found the ball, and found his target. Unlike Scott Welsh who looked at the ball like it was full of nails.

I was at the game Stiff, and I was happy with Mattner's performance.

Hey guys. I'm new here, it seems like a fantastic board to be a part of.

I might have my say on the game this week if you all don't mind.

Although on the Burton issue, I will agree to dissagree. He hasn't been that bad, surely?

I think Matthew Bode has been very harshly dealt with lately. I would really like to see him produce four good quarters this week, without being benched. He is a very important make up of the team that is the Adelaide Crows.

I have said enough. :D Let the wise ones speak!

Welcome aboard mate.

I have no isssue with your comments on Burton and Bode either, Issue!! ;)

Well thankyou very much for those comments Macca23. It’s nice to know people agree with the Bode issue. :)

My name 'Issue', if you are curious, derives from Kris Massie. This rebounding backman is my favourite player at the club. However, I considered his last game to be ordinary at best.

G'day Issue, most here would agree with you about Bode.
I got so frustrated with the bode decision that i am going to the bay oval for the first time in 8 years tommorow just to watch him play. I will post something tomorrow on him.

Welcome aboard Issue ;)

I am pised off that Bode is being treated harshly. I think Burton burns the ball too much. He gets a lot of it but he wasted at least 70% of it. He is the clanger king ;)

Thanks jc67 and Stiffy_18 for your kind welcoming words.

As I have expressed, it is heart warming to know that people feel the same way about Bode and Burton, Bode in particular.

I am very worried that both these players will not be at the club come seasons' end.

You start to get the feeling that Gary Ayres has seen photos of Matthew Bode in the act with Mrs Ayres. ;)

Oh and issue make sure you check out healy's thread "me" on the introductions board.
it's the best read here;) :)

Hi Issue, new here too..........and with similar thoughts.

Bode must have done something Ayres didnt like.

And Burton needs to get himself together.......He gets the ball and then it gets bad from there. I remember him looking very promising but his progress is slowing. He needs to take that step up BUT stay there.

I;d hate to see him playing for someone else. Patience at this point is needed I believe:)

I think the problem is Burton gets put in the midfield cause he has stamina but is very unaccountable because he is used to being a forward.I say stick him at FF and see what happens.

Thoughts??????

Stiffy, I think you know my thoughts on Watts and what a better place than to have him on the MCG with Stevo next to him. My only issue is another 5 changes, which can be disruptive, but then again, ah what the heck!!!

We did that in 2002 and he only kicked 51 goals in 13 games.

The master coach won't fall for that one again!!

And so will I be there but originally when I bought the flight back in December, I was anticipating we would be mid-range at about
4-5 record. It looks we will only be two games out of the eight by the end of this weekend.

C'mon guys, you can't seriously expect the Hound not to play?

We all know he will make his usual miraculous recovery.

For me;

In - M.Stevens, Torney, REILLY, Schuback, Bode

Out - Begley(inj. only), Skipworth, Shirley, Mattner, ahh stuff it, Basset out as well:p

Tell Welsh to get his finger out, and what's up with Ladhams? Two poor games in a row from him. Can't believe people gave him votes for the Bombers match.

Welcome Aboard! All the best, enjoy the bf experience, and don't take things too seriously/personally....you'll have fun.

Unfortunately, we're just going to have to agree to disagree on the Massie thing.......I think he's a hack who is more harm to the side than help. His new and interesting ways to cough it up every week make me sick to the core everytime he gets the footy. Sorry, just dont like him.

As for Hawthorn......well I'd also really like to see the Birdman up front again.....our lack of a marking forward (plus the terrible delivery) on Friday night really cruelled us.

Goody mentioned last night (Melb Dinner Auction) that he'd be back week after next.
