Adelaide's decline

Hard to tell for sure given he has not played but from what I know of Rankine he is a cream type player, a player you get if you are already a good side, rather than a player you get to build a team around.

Something to think about.......not 1 SA player, even through all our dark years and we're not out yet, but there is now light at the end of a very short tunnel, not 1 SA player, has ever requested to go back to SA. And I don't think any of the SA boys on our list now, will be the first.

Old mate Dan Gorringe did.

Daniel Gorringe (born 2 June 1992) is an Australian media personality and former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Gold Coast and Carlton. After being drafted from the Norwood Football Club, he made his Australian Football League debut for Gold Coast in 2011 and played 22 games in his five seasons with the Suns, before being delisted and subsequently signed by Carlton, where he played four games in 2016. Gorringe appears in Channel 7's Big Brother Australia 2020 reboot.[1]

Looks like he was sent back to SA via Victoria.

He requested & verbally agreed to be traded to Port Adelaide in 2014 & it fell over due to more important trades for us.. post script he and his father had a cry about it & Port didn't look at him again.

OK fair enough if true, but we're talking about Gorringe here, and we actually had something going in 2014 if I remember, until that bloke from Geelong did his shoulder. I should have stated no 'AFL standard' player ever asked.....I'm sure you get my drift;)

The story with Neale is that he left Perth as it was a fishbowl and absolutely had no desire to head to another fishbowl. Was always going to a non AFL dominant state.

Any reason why you picked out the Crows and ignored Port? We are in the same state.
Nope. Thought about Port too.
I'm sure he had his own reasons

But the bigger picture is the Crows are losing players and then bizarrely go after Gibbs as their 'come home' player.

Plenty of young gun SA players playing all over the country. Gibbs was a truly bizarre choice.

At least Port have picked up younger 'come homers' like Burton and Lycett.

The Crows and the Power have made a habit of picking out the better mature-aged South Australian talent over the last few years for Rookie List/late draft spots. Shane McAdam is another example of this. A cynic would say it's designed to weaken the other SANFL sides, but it might just be a "free swing, see how he goes" situation too
True, but I think it's more so just clubs trying to emulate the success of Barlow/Kelly/Mitchell/Podsiadly etc.

If you're referring to Patrick Wilson, he was dominant at SANFL level before the Crows drafted him, and that continued for the Crows SANFL side last year too.

Imagine thinking AFL clubs would seriously contemplate the targeted weakening of SANFL sides when drafting lol that cynic is a delusional muppet & is probably Redlegs radio's only listener.

Yea it's not right but they'd all be on pretty big coin it has to go somewhere.
Brad Crouch was reported on being around $6-650 around the time he signed his last contract, I imagine Matt would be on similar. Sloane, would be on decent coin. Talia is another who is reported to be on a decent contract. I be surprised if either of them are within $150-200K of $1M though.

McAdam and Wilson.
I cant comment on Wilson. McAdam i can. I have seen him play in the SANFL with Sturt.
I didn’t realise McAdam was 25! In any case, he was picked up as a mature aged player and should debut this week. Geelong actually would’ve taken him with their 20s pick in 2018 if he wasn’t a pre-selection, many recruiters were excited by his leap, marking ability and breakout season at Sanfl level that year. Fitness was the issue which he has hopefully sorted by now.

Wilson was a speculative rookie pick who is likely gone at the end of the season.
Again, I have seen Shane McAdam play in the SANFL. Suprised he didnt play a game for the crows last season. Then I realized he was injured. Played in both of Sturts 2016 and 2017 flags I think. I saw him play well in the 2018 finals series at Adelaide oval. He should of been picked up by an AFL club after Sturt won the 2016 flag to be honest.

Fancy that. When sturt won the 2016 and 2017 SANFL flags. Jarrod Lienert is another Mature ager. He is 25 now. He played in the 2016 Sturt premiership side. The next year he played in the Grand final, but not with sturt, the Port Adelaide magpies as they lost by a point.

Nothing wrong with that.

I have seen freo get average players or injury prone players with 1st round picks then get solid players with late picks and rookie picks.

One thing we know for sure, the Adelaide crows are one of the most delusional sporting clubs/supporter bases on earth.

Many people (including myself) have been argued with Crow’s about one particular problem for years now and this problem is still bloody there! This will ensure the Crows disaster will continue for years to come...

How can Justin Reid still be in charge of the list????

Incredible!!

He has gutted the place and still holds arguably the most important job at the club!

Look at this:

Team Reid-

Hamil McAsey Seedsman
Milera Doedee keys
Gallucci Jones McHenry
Davis Himmelberg Murphy
Wilson Fogarty Crocker

Frampton Gibbs Poholke Stengle

That’s the entire list of players who have been brought in under Reid, played an AFL game and still on the crows list. (I’ve highlighted the ones who aren’t even good enough to crack into this atrocious crows team.)

In the meantime Reid has given up to opposition clubs:

Pick 10 2017
Pick 17 2017
Pick 19 2018
Pick 11 2019
Mitch Mcgovern
Charlie Cameron
Alex keath
Sam Jacobs
Eddie betts
Josh jenkins
Hugh greenwood
Cam Ellis-yolmen
Jake Lever
Jarryd Lyons
Ricky henderson

Crazy stuff! Still manages the list this guy!

He's not the problem. There's a list management committee that included Andrew Fagan, Roo, financial controller, don Pyke and Brett Burton. Reid is just the employee who executes the decisions made by the committee. Fagan actually said on record that instructed Reid to not leave the negotiations in 2017 without Gibbs in a crows guernsey. It was said as a brag. We have a football strategy committee that includes all those people, less Reid but plus Fob ****ing Chapman. Tell me why the financial controller would sit on a football strategy committee. Reid is not the problem, he doesn't make those decisions in isolation. Our problems are much higher up.

See I think you have the opposite problem that MNIG said (which was a borderline troll) Crows fans seem smart and very knowledgeable about the state of their club and list, but it's the club's board and administration, that are in a state of Denial, if not delusional..

The Problem is I believe that under the current set up, Crows members/supporters do not have the ability to call for an Emergency Board Meeting and ask for a spill of the board and elect new/fresh faces to the club's board.

Loyal supporters such as yourself, who have poured in thousands of dollars into the club over the years, deserve to have some autonomy and say in the club's administration and board movements.

The SANFL have certainly not given you or Port Adelaide any favours over the years

It's easy for Victorian club supporters to have a go at AFC supporters for the people and admin running the club, but as I say, they have no power or control at all over that.

I think we need to show some empathy for Crows fans, who are bleeding for their footy but pretty much have no say in who runs in or how to create meaningful change at West Lakes.

So yesterday I saw Horse, J McVeigh and Dean Cox in the coach's box.

That 4 flags and 1,000 odd games?

Plus we have Kinnear Beatson in recruiting. An absolute veteran.

Crows have left poor old Nicksy like a lamb to the slaughter.

The person who won't rock the boat gets the gig. He accepted the job with the worst coaching group and footy dept in the land. Nobody to blame but himself.

Drop Tex and move on he's been an impostor for years it's not 1985 with big dopey slow forwards just leading out from the square.

Looks like they are grooming another in that category in Fogarty.. I guess he does more faux tough guy stuff than Tex.
