Maybe make it so its completely open to choose whatever e.g 27+ & win for the Jags one week.

Its kind of redundant too, if a team scores 27 points there's a fair chance they'll win.

I'd be happy to give a bonus pt to those who chose the 27 with a loss, fwiw.

You don't have to play .... Why are you complaining

This evening I'll be posting the NO SHOWS charter. (I can see GG giving me the o_O look… haha) Some of was negotiated with some common ground given with stipulations of NO Shows conditions for the ND/ LCS and HRS comps. With the LCS, there is going to be more scope for Tumbleweed / LCS eliminated campaigners to be given a second chance to 'challenge' a NO SHOW's pending status. Sven has rubber stamped (read: Endorsed) the suggestion I have in mind. Keeps everyone honest. :thumbsu:

I think we should have a discussion about the next season of comps while the season is still going.

I think we need to form a panel of posters that will make the decisions for everybody based on input as the season progresses.

5-7 posters and all regular BF contributors.

I feel although Woodson puts a tremendous amount of his own time into this and that is appreciated the decision to keep the comps all the same was a bit autocratic and basically needed a whole heap of inactive posters to come on and vote which had very little chance of actually happening.

Call it autocratic because the formula of comps is working well. But there is always things to tweak as issues that 'compromise the higher standard' we hope to achieve need to be discussed. Without GG's persistence.. the NO SHOWS 'road teams' avenue doesn't get a look in. Wish he talked up that 'Road teams' idea earlier (in JUNE) when the 'open to ideas' was given to all to submit ideas/ concepts instead of trying to fracture the 3XKO/ ND). But I'm grateful for what GG has persisted in the No Shows idea.

I believe the POLL I offered after taking in considerations / ideas that were thrown out there was as democratic an approach as one can get without needing to completely re-shuffle the deck chairs for the sake of it. GG tried to implement a new strategy with the 3XKO that didn't get much love with the proven formula that is 'simple' :p:D yet CHALLENGING ENOUGH as it is.

The problem with 'Hot Streak' if it got voted in over HRS was that a 'lucky week of WreckingBall results' could of assisted the NO SHOWS.

Limiting comps to less 'elimination processes' is what we should be thinking. Oscarman 's idea of '100 Point Dash' (working title) has merit because you can use GG's formula of the 3XKO 'two team' strategy within that making it more explosive in the way of point scoring only using 'Division sets' of teams which GG may have contemplated. Assigning points to these Division teams who obviously need to play outside the division on that particular week, would put a relatively new spin of strategy because we just never know how dainty people want to break up the pie of 100 points. Something to think about next season.

Roll Tide concept sounds too complex but really it's ahead of it's time (not because I come up with the morphed idea that extended from EagleOz concept).

We'll LEAVE AE comps discussion all ON the BACKBURNER now. Add feedback on AE Polls thread.

Let's focus on the AE14 where the optional comp (Temptation) for $10 can encourage 'outsiders' to get involved… something that wasn't offered last year. Now that's NOT so autocratic.

You didn't get the result you wanted, that doesn't mean that you were unjustly done by. As was indicated by the poll, a majority of AE veterans like the AE comp the way it is. We don't think it's broken, and therefore don't think it needs to be fixed.

Keep up the good work Woodson - AE continues to be the best NFL armchair competition going around

Conclusions have been settled which will allow for a 'fair yet smart process outcome for all' after a discussion with my AE admin constituents.

JeffDunne welcomes the default 'ROAD TEAM' no show 1-16 CR concept with open arms.

Says it'll be much easier for everyone. (GG giving me a 'told ya so'). OK.. I admit the '$20 refundable levy' was an audacious angst angle. Forgive me for I have sinned.

AE UPDATE / NO SHOWS:

The AE Tipping website will be PRE-SET to ROAD TEAMS as a DEFAULT for everyone with the 1 to 16 CR value running in numerical order sequence:
1 for TNF up to 16 or whatever the highest CR value on that given week is, for MNF. (Yes, I know Week 1 has two MNF games… the last gamed on the West Coast will be 16CR FYI)

This Pre-set concept means if you forget/ overlook to submit your weekly picks, you'll already KNOW you have the ROAD TEAMS as a default with the 3XKO teams from the last games of the week being the SNF, MNF and another late Sunday game (if applicable to your 3XKO survival status).

HOWEVER.. the ND, LCS and HRS comps will not be compromised this season with 'NO SHOWS' that shall not be permitted to register a victory in the NEXT DUEL and LAST CHANCE SALOON comps if they score more than their scheduled opponents (who actually puts in the effort) without submitting up to FOUR HOME TEAM selections (changes from the road team default) which proves that 'a token effort' was made to submit your weekly picks.

ie: Mr NO SHOW gets a lucky score of 98 which is all candy for the CR comp but his score of 98 (per se) will not earn him a 'registered win' for either ND or LCS this season if his scheduled opponent (who submitted his picks) scores lower.
Also worth noting the ND opponent who submits his picks against the NO SHOW will NOT be credited with a default win either unless he outscores the NO SHOW default score. Thus ND Division opponents will not to be disadvantaged by 'gifted' wins by division rivals either way. Gotta earn it in the ND.

In the case of the ND Play-offs: If the situation were to occur where a ND PLAY-Off participant were to not have 'eligible' Selections (NO SHOW) , their opponent will proceed to the NEXT round by default.

ALSO NOTE: There is no restrictions whatsoever for anyone WILLING TO SELECT ALL ROAD TEAMS in any given week, all the requirement is to prove you have made a bona fide effort to submit your picks is to 'CHANGE at LEAST SIX CR values' of those ROAD team selections that are already successively numbered 1-16.

As the LAST CHANCE SALOON is a late season knockout comp like Grand Slam Tennis, I have been given the heads up by Sven that last season's process of 're-sorted' rankings/ qualification will continue with the lead up of mid-season 'three weeks of accumulating scores' as the barometer for the comp rankings.

In turn, what happens to the NO Shows during this period?

Doing the 'three week of accumulative scoring' NOTHING… their default score counts which includes the Tumbleweed round

However, when the LCS kicks in with the 'Main Draw' , the NO SHOWS will be made accountable.

How?
If a No Show in Round 1 of the LCS is not defeated by his Main Draw opponent, the score of the opponent who bothered to submit his selections will be TESTED in two ways to seek progress to ROUND 2 of
LCS.
Firstly: Total of Aggregate Points in that FOUR Week bracket up against all the Tumbleweed Eliminated participants (Highest accumulated scorer who did submit his selections in that LCS Round 1 claims the NO Show spot)
Second: The two opponents scores will be measured head to head to determine the WINNER to progress to the NEXT Round.

ie: Main draw PLAYER A vs PLAYER J, PLayer J is a NO Show meaning Player J forfeits his spot.
Tumbleweed Eliminated Bunch Scorers: Player Z who submitted his picks scored 320 (highest) in the previous four weeks including that R1 week of LCS.
Player Z scored 88 vs Player A 86.
Player Z moves into Round 2 of LCS

What happens if the LCS competitor is a NO SHOW in Round 2 or latter rounds?
NO Show will forfeit his spot to the same process of the ELIMINATED TUMBLEWEED LCS participants up to that stage meaning a COUNTBACK of the previous 'THREE WEEKS SCORES' including the week of the NO Show occurring, highest total aggregate points of the ELIMINATED (Tumbleweed failed bunch not including those already knocked out of the LCS comp) will take the NO SHOW's spot and the two opponents scores will be measured head to head to determine the WINNER to progress to the NEXT round.

The DROP ZONE ELIMINATION comp will not discriminate against the weekly NO SHOW on the first occasion but ELIMINATION will however occur on the second NO SHOW from the same survivor regardless of his CR score.

The only TWO comps not effected with a noted penalty will the CR and 3XKO.
Why?
ROAD TEAMS have taken it from the wildcard to the SB podium on FOUR Occasions so having the NO SHOW try roll his devil dice on Prime time will be just as challenging especially if he has only missed ONCE as a NO show in any given week prior.

Good response Woodson. Willing to let it rest for now but really would like the process to be done differently next time. Hoping for inactives to show up and vote isn't gonna fly again in my opinion.

Too much is tied in with CR in my opinion. We'll see how it goes this season as to if I have a leg to stand on.

Woodson soooo I already paid my $60 ($40+$20). If I understand you correctly, the $20 thing is now scrapped.

If this is the case, put $10 towards Temptation entry for me, and the other $10 towards JD's costs in running the site :thumbsu:

So do I need an armchair to do this thing??

If so, wingback, bucket or threadworn old grandfather favourite?

I'd say so.. park your posterior in one of these wingback deluxe versions that allows the gear shift lever to lower the chassis so more leg speed eccelleration is possible meaning the 360 degree rotation on greased castors, can allow for a smooth direct line flow for making more dynamic selections on the fly.

Needs a slot for the remote.

Plus wider arms for the gf to rest her shapely size 7 butt on without tipping the whole thing over...

Maybe I need to see if it comes with a pole attachment and a cigar tray...

well, could I recommend this nifty ROOF RUMBLER? Has a remote side panel, comes with ropes.. keeps the shapely size 7 butt in position… pole attachment?? Where you going ?? How about this one.. the BEAN RECLINER to sweep the opposition out especially if you can take the bit between the teeth and pull the right reigns… you'll be flying in no time.

Is there a tl;dr version of this?

What happens if someone actually wants to pick less than 4 home teams? are they penalised by not being able to get an ND win etc?
It's either four home teams, or make 6 CR changes.

As GG pointed out only that it'll be six changes including home teams in that case. ie: two home teams four CR values changed from the pre-set.

This just stops any slacker to just swing 'SNF & MNF' to home teams/ CR flipped. Not enough effort. So two more changes required.

Woodson can you also do exactly the same as this for my $60 already paid.
