I'd propose for a survivor method: Similar to GG's but ONE pick per week, cannot use again for the season.
That's normal standard Survivor.
Reason I like my version better is because 2 picks per week means all 32 teams could theoretically be chosen if a few people manage to go all the way thru the 17 week season. Or at the very least, if there's a winner by say week 9 or 10, then it means most people had to pick 18 or 20 teams.

I dunno why Woodson is so caught up with the "wrecking ball" aspect, like it can only happen in normal 3XKO, but wrecking balls happen in Survivor just the same. Weeks when a favorite loses and a lot of people chose the favorite. So wrecking ball just the same.

And of course, normal Survivor you're only allowed one wrong choice and you're out. So our/my version of Survivor is better giving everyone three lives. And thus, wrecking balls still happening, and people still able to recover from a wrecking ball week.

I can't remember your trial results but over a decade, surely the game is over sooner than later? I like longevity in each comp.

My not entirely original suggestion would still have the 3xko aspect attached.

Wrecking balls i agree would happen in any format.

To your earlier post a couple above this: too many can dilute the comp, certainly. The imaginary 184 is probably ridiculous. The 84 could probably still expand a little though.

I just prefer not to compete with 183 others in the main comp I like regardless of increased prize money and then play against 83 others for the rest.

184 is ridiculous. Great interest and all but it ends up ruining the boutique style of comp AE was. Where 40-60 people worked in terms of everyone still able to win, many other side comps to keep everyone interested, etc.

But with something too big, then all the side comps can't really work anymore (keeping people interested as well as organizationally).

In terms of survivor vs 3xko I just think 3xko sucks. Just go with the far more challenging survivor angle (team only chosen once) but give it that 3xko feel by giving three lives, picking two teams or one team per week can compromise, just the only one team able to be chosen is the thing I want.

I'm definitely with you there. Running it for the second season in the AFL, I love the format. You have to be on your game every weel and almost think 2-3 weeks in advance.

I'm doing alright in that comp this year ;)

Where's that comp this year? What's the feedback from AFL supporters (you know the non-NFL/hipsters)?
It's a small thing I try and run each year. The typical 3XKO format used to be the least popular format each year. The new 3KO Survivor has received good feedback. Last year the winner went 16 straight picks unscathed as everyone else fell away. A couple of wrecking balls but not like the extent of AE. Also note AE has 4 times the amount of people playing.

This year we are at 12 weeks (skipping bye rounds). This round will be the 13th round for 3KO Survivor and we are down to 3 people all on their last life.
A non AE player lost his first strike in round 1 (Sydney wrecking ball) and just lost his second strike.
GG.exe lost strikes in rounds 1 & 8
and Woodson lost strikes in rounds 1 & 3, and is very lucky his default pick (St Kilda) got over the line last week.

We've had eliminations almost every week since round 3. So it's not easy and now you're really digging deep to find which of your remaining teams has the best match up. It gets really interesting now for me, for those eliminated early on, probably not but I think this provides a better spectacle that the original AE format.

Oh I thought you meant CR points format. Always thought that would be popular with AFL.

Donation for 2017-18 season will be forwarded when required.

You're amongst the finalist I have in mind to select the ND divisions..

Forgive me, I got too specific with the current hot topic.

Zooming out, I run a much smaller AFL version of AE. This year has it's own CR, ND and 3XKO formats. Slightly different in each competition regarding format although AE CR would be exactly the same again if the MAX CR was increased in Bye Weeks. I did that for AFL a few years ago.

It's enjoyed by 99.5% of people who have participated over the last 7 or so years. .4% were typical people who forgot about tipping as you get in any comp. .1% claimed they submitted their tips but I couldn't find any data supporting that and because they realised at the end of the round, my hands were pretty tied. They got really mad and left at the end of the year. Full Disclosure, I theoretically gave them the benefit of the doubt at the end of the season to see what would have happened and they still wouldn't have placed.

*Stats are made up but the point is the overwhelming majority love the AE format over the traditional style.

Can vouch for what a great comp Bucketts runs and the time and effort he has produced into creating the PTL site. The only hiccup i can remember happening was last year when a couple of the same games appeared in the same round which threw me out and i still am not sure how that resolved itself in terms of points awarded. No such problems this year, onwards and upwards.

The only reason for me to keep tabs on the ol' gridiron is this contest. It sure as hell isn't the Browns. ;)

I am in...well at least until Trump builds his wall..then I am really in for good. :(

My preference would be to keep to same comps with the MAX CR during the bye rounds.

When will the registrations be opening up this year? I'll be out of the country a large portion of the next few months.

In the next few days hopefully

In and CR packaged with max CR during bye rounds my vote. Not fussed about DZE and HR but happy to play them if included.

Would still love another multiple option comp like a feature games comp where there are say 5 feature games a week, Thurs night, Sun arvo early, Sun arvo late, Sun night, Mon night.

3 options per game, line, QB over/under passing yards, team rushing yards over/under for example or something else. 1 point for each correct selection, bonus point if all 3 right. Would add a little bit of extra interest to each time slot if we have a boring one sided fixture in any of those time slots. I know there's probably holes in that idea but just floating it out there.
