Saints actually played prettier footy than the horrible Freo game last week from the little I saw.

Carlton a better list on a bigger ground. Their style is old fashioned and is much more enjoyable to watch. Shades of Rocca and Tarrant the way they cycle Harry and Curly Curnow, feels like the differing style of the two messes up defences as much as their actual quality.

Rucks seem to have more leeway to scrag: not in the rules, just in the way they're umpired.

A "non ruck" seems to get more leeway, so when McStay goes in for us he gets to jump into a Gawn or Xerri. Silvagni gets to be an actual limpet. Mason Cox definitrly a "real" ruck though, possibly the only Pie who can't buy a free.

Maybe TDK is seem by the umps as more a "relieving ruck" filling in for Pittonet?

Saints although we all know are a shit club in general do have a good ruckman already. TDK didnt do much to impress when they already have Marshall who is more consistent.

not to bad a clash, had its moments.
carlton got the win by Harry having his kicking boots on.
And also a little helping hand by some friendly umpire calls.
Both teams are mid table candidates..

St Kilda lack talent and they are lucky they have a coach who is able to do what he can with that list.
If Carlton get there, it will only come from their soft draw.
Even if they fall into the eight once again, other finals teams will be licking their lips, as it is an easy route to the next round.

When the eagles realised Judd was leaving they absolutely worked him into the ground like a government mule in his final year there.

My side lost to both these teams.

Both these teams can be difficult to score against, particularly if you don't move the ball quickly from D50, they'll run back hard to clog their own D50.

Look there were learnings for your unlucky mob- firstly it was all just bad luck and you didn't get enough free kicks in front of goals -and secondly when you are playing a side which is slower and also down two rotations - maybe stay away from contested congestion and try and use your superior run to open up the game ...dunno - just a guess.
