• The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
• Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
• Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
• This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
• Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

AFL 23 is a buggy footy game atm, Evo 2 is a somewhat functional attempt at a footy game

Evo 2 is dreadfully easy and the ai is dumb as dogshit but the handballing flow of the game is fun, much more arcadey then 23

I traded it back in at EB Games for Ghost of Tsushima. I'm out. Not paying $100 for this AFL game. What a disappointment.


If it gets better with patches will pick it up down the track on a discount price. I won't ever buy a AFL game on day 1 again.

To me that is such shit. They could most definitely do refunds for games.

I once tried to return a game to Big W and I got the same shit, "we can't return once the sticker tag on the case is broken." Utterly ridiculous.

A tip that might help anyone with the ruck..

I find using the left stick to move your player a bit helps, obviously at ball ups and boundary throw ins, you move to get better positioning but I found I have more success in the centre bounces when I push the left stick as well, almost like you’re controlling the jump (which you don’t but this seems to do something)

Hold L2 + Right analog stick in the direction you want to tap once it goes up in the air, don't release until ball is taped. Works for me.

Last nights ps5 patch has helped the ai immensely, I’m actually getting good contests on hard, it’s still clunky as but it’s at least competitive now.

I still can’t get past one game in either management mode or season mode as Freo without the game crashing - perhaps the game is shocked to see Freo win, which is understandable

Evo was clearance kick after clearance kick. Game felt nothing like football, whereas this game allows you to hit up targets and use the corridor properly. Just need these glaring defects to be addressed and we’ve got a game.
