Collingwood was just a random one I looked up, Ports and West Coasts were similar as was Freos but I did just look and they are actually doing the merchandise add-on idea, $18 extra each gets them a 20th anniversary scarf and/or cap.

Driving to AAMI is ok as long as you know what your doing and have a plan. The pretty much one road in is a problem if you get caught. When I lived in the North Eastern area of Adelaide it bad because I was also a student who had to get the Footy Express bus in, which went through the city, then usually got stuck in traffic once you get nearer the stadium.

IMO Football park was always easy to get in & out of .....i came from Glenelg & esplanade was easy access

Now Adelaide oval with big crowds ......just watch how difficult it's going to be getting out if you come by car

Adelaide Oval will only be better because most people will have to park further away catch public transport, because it's the right thing to do, and there's so little parking that only morons will be driving in every fortnight and clamouring for slabs of parking space to be bulldozed in the parklands

No, getting out if the cricket and subsequently the city predict wasn't very difficult. Only used to take me 10 minutes to get in my car and then turn left past the W&C hospital to the main north road. In fact, it will become easier as they will have less car parks available.

haha actually agree 100% my true idea of parking further away is your nearest train station/supermarket with a bus stop/tram stop wherever... If you have to drive at all.

At AAMI everyone wants to go "home" at the same time. At AO many will stay in the city after the game as that was a big reason behind the push to get footy there.

However, from my perspective they feel they need to gain every cent from the game day experience they earn but don't appreciate how they got this opportunity.

The split of money should be changed to make it far more even than what it actually is.

Agree with most, or most of it. Not sure that makes sense.

wrt Port pushing to play at AO, originally it was all about playing some games at a smaller and thus cheaper venue. The SANFL was obviously against that as they made money from games no matter how many turned up.

Agree wrt both teams having the same deal as long as both clubs get a more equitable share of the income.
IIRC, both of our clubs used to lose money whenever the number of spectators that turned up was smaller than the numbers predicted before the game. Once a large number turned up, around 35K IIRC, there was always going to be a small profit.

For those that are interested in more details I suggest you do your own research and look at how much profit we made from the Carlton game when 45,127 spectators turned up AND how much profit you lot made by averaging 33,613 spectators per game as you did in 2013.
After that compare those amounts to what Freo, WCE, Geelong, whoever make with similar numbers.

From both of our clubs perspective, purely from a financial point if view, there is no point having an extra 5-10K turn up at Adelaide Oval if our bottom line doesn't improve.
The AO deal needs to be better than the deal we got at AAMI.

And I've said many times, I hope(hoped as it won't happen) the SMA implement a financial package they club can gain the correct profit from the stadium. It shouldn't matter if you get 1 person turn up or 53,500 turn up. Clubs get every cent they make after the first $2,000,000 they make.

I hope the SMA just stayed the hell out if it and just give the clubs a bottom line figure they need to meet and then give both clubs a clean stadium. No cricket members, no SMA corporate boxes sold, no catering deal to manipulate the cost and it's all up to the clubs.

The stronger you market you match day experiences to gain more people turn up; the greater your profit margins will become.

I have to say that we weren't overly impressed with the facilities. After looking everywhere for the toilets, we ended up having to ask the guy on the Info desk for directions. It appears that to get to the food outlets and toilets on the ground floor, you might get wet on rainy days.

Also, with the reserved seating options available to us, it seems we may have some sight issues. It will be difficult to see if the footy's kicked out on the full right in front of us. *picky picky*

Since I had no problems with anything at AAMI Stadium, it'll be interesting to see what it's like watching an actual game at Adelaide Oval. Time will tell, I guess.

Isn't the issue with the western stand the lack of facilities? Ie no toilet in the bar, food only on the ground level?

There is definitely a wheelchair toilet and a male bathroom right at the beginning of the western stand.

Can't recall a female bathroom though.

And on the top level, there's toilets next to every entrance I believe.

When we were looking, we were in the middle of the stand. When we walked in, we didn't go past the toilet area, as we were on a raised walkway.

So basically they couldn't do enough to bring the Western Stand in line with the Eastern Stand as far as being suitable for an AFL sized crowd who all want to be served/use toilets etc at the same time. Kind of a shame. I think in this case the peoples stand on the other side might be the place to be.

Though I haven't actually been in there so don't know, is there room for the necessary upgrades eventually or are we pretty much talking its AAMI stadium Northern Grandstand but nicer looking?

There are toilets on the ground floor at each end of the stand (we weren't allowed to go to the southern end), but there don't appear to be any in the middle. The main covered part is further into the middle of the back of the stand, which means there's only a very narrow covered area to get to the loos and food franchises, and possibly a small section without any cover at, iirc. At AAMI Stadium, the whole of the back of the western stand is undercover.

I'm not sure what they're planning to do. I just wasn't overly impressed. We even joked about them installing port-a-loos on game days to cater for the crowds.
