Wow. Two updates to their website in a week. What's going on? Unheard of :|
I think that's giving them a little to much credit.
I heard someone turned on the TV, realised it was footy season & raced down to the studio where they called a meeting.
At this meeting, volunteers were saught... Any worker able to write on that intraweb thingy was asked to raise their hand... Someone did & the rest is history.
Now that they've got their head around the intraweb they're going to try and make a game.

Yes, I am cynical. To put the AFL logo under recent releases is a bit cheeky to.

I don't know if anyone has posted this yet but these claimed to be some early screen shots (or models of the MCG?) of the game. Fake or not?, you be the judge.

FWIW Where were they 'leaked' too? As in where did you find those?

They're pretty good, but really still gives us nothing at that. The G looks good and that tiny bit of Etihad looks alright too. But it's that far away that up close it could look horrible, and the grass looks fairly average as well especially on the Etihad picture.

Haha, the MCG looks as big as the SCG in those pics, with there being very little room between the 50 metre line and the centre.

I know it's probably only going to get better, but damn, would be so easy to score if you win the ball out of the middle at the G.

To me it looks like someone has print screened the 3D Models of the MCG and Etihad from Google Earth.

They look terrible, small MCG and the grass is even worse.

There should be a kick to a player button where the % chance of hitting the target is based on the players kicking skill, so for eg if you're playing with Brisbane and the ball is in the backline you might handball it around to try and give it to Drummond to bring it out of defense. Would be awesome. :thumbsu:

I hope they reintroduce the 'snap for goal' button. Loved it in Premiership Edition when you could sprint to the point post, snap it and have a 1/10 chance of making it.

The goal kick button doubled as a snap button in 2007 when used away from goal or on the boundary. Not the exact same implementation as PE but pretty close.

Gotta add the good old multi rotation flaw,
Lynch........... comes ontotheground
Lynch........... comes ontotheground
Lynch........... comes ontotheground
Lynch........... comes ontotheground

Brings back memories. so many good ones i can't think of though!!

thats what i reckon is the main problem with the games we've had, there's no difference between the players' kicking ability. you can't have manual aiming in the game any more, because you can't even see who's available up the field! they need to bring back the arrows and such under the player which show where teammates are ala AFL 98/99, or somehow work out a system that'll show three things: a leading target, a wide open target, or a contest, and also how good of an option it is (e.g. a guy might be leading but his defender might be right at his heels or something)

also, i tuned into SEN during their technology segment the other day, and caught the end of a convo about the game. all i heard the guy say was that "big ant are making the next afl game and it's release date is august 2010, and it'll be coming out on ps2 as well" (or something along those lines). dunno where they got that info from, and i'm not sure exactly what the ps2 remark was about, but i think we can all agree that is a shit release date!

and stop bitching about the size of that ground & how appealing it is, i couldn't care less what it LOOKS like, gameplay is the no.1 priority.

I couldnt care less if the graphics were the same as Premiership 2004.
The game play has to be good.

Kicking should be like this:

Player gets the ball.

All players that can be passed the ball turn into an x or a triangle or L1, R1, L2, R2 etc (depending on console) on the game radar down the bottom. Press the corresponding button to the player you want to kick it too. Pressure, wind and kicking ability will determine whether or not the ball hits the target.
Also a button for long kick to space, snap out of the pack etc.
This will then bring vision, composure and decision making into the game.

Kicking for goal -
Set shots, should resemble NBA Live 06 Foul Shooting.
NBA was simple. just one bar went vertical, determining the power, one went horizontal, determining the accuracy (not sure if this is still in as i now use 2k)

Kicking for goal outside of set shots is hard to manage. (quick snaps, dribbles etc)
But AFL PE 2004 you would just hold triangle and hope. And even though that doesnt involve skill, it was exciting.

Marking is all about timing, press x to determine when to jump and whoever times it better will mark it. Also press o to punch. (Same as most previous games)

Out of gameplay they really also need to get right, as good management styles make it 10x more enjoyable when playing it by yourself.

Premiership-Coach sounds excellent and they should try and use their ideas as much as they can.

Kicking should be done by holding down the kick button causing the player to drop the ball, then releasing it at the appropriate time (when the player should kick). That is for goal kicking on the run, also skill, pressure, wind and angle should effect the chances of this going in. Much like shooting in NBA 2k games.
