There is training - unlike FIFA at this time it isn't while loading, it is a separate menu item.

will you be able to selecting what type of training you can do like handball in a target, hit up a leading forward or just kicking the ball doing what ever.

And one more question will there be mission mode re write history or mini games or all of the above
if you can answer one question or all it would be much appreciated
thanks

Have been pretty busy last few days, so let me know if the FAQ thread needs updating or if any parts of it do not make sense or need clean up.

there is training mode in the game that has been confirmed

As Ant_ says 7 players on one PS3. 4 players on one Xbox.

The online issues are that our Broadband in Oz is not great and we have a large field with the camera pulled back with 18 players per side with no off-side rule. Wish it was different but that means that two boxes is the limit, but it still is a total of 8 players.

In any case, the MS/PS3 stats show there is only a very small percentage of sports titles that are played with more than two boxes connected.
it is 4 v 4... just get them around to your place!
Not to sound like I'm bitching, but it's tough to get people who live all around Aus around to 1 house.:p We're a pretty big community here at BigFooty and there's people in country and metro Victoria, WA, NSW, QLD, SA, etc. so the conceivable option of 1, 1, 1, 1 vs 1, 1, 1, 1 (or whatever different possibilities from that) was looking like a godsend.

It was always going to come down to our shitty broadband (so hopefully once we get this new thing Labour is planning we might be able to get the speeds up to the standard to actually be able to do it). Is it at least something that with faster speeds we might see in the future more than 2 boxes being able to play against each other? Or is there at least going to be the option down the line to do so? It just seems that if you could offer up the option for it a lot of people would take it up, or is it not logistically possible due to the issues on your end rather than what would be ours?
I honestly dont see what the big deal is, whats the point playing sports games online?
Because it breaks beyond what AI can do. AI can only do so much as a competitor and often they can be worked out relatively fast and will be eventually. What real opponents do is something that you're not expecting. If you've never had a go at a sports game online then you're missing out. FIFA is absolutely brilliant online, never the same game.
Wow, that is a lot more than most would have expected, most probably would have thought just a player would be in, not team or comp
I think when the NRL game was announced and it's features it wasn't hard to put 2 and 2 together. Just some people don't use that part of the brain that equates those things. Was always going to be there, just awaited confirmation really.
It's on the front page of this Video Games forum??

i know ive posted a will post on the last day but whatever i think this is worth saying

one more thing i just remembered before the game your about to play starts will we see the team line ups as the players are warming up this will be awesome

Just wondering, is there a multi-season/dynasty/gm mode? Where your teams stats grow, you can trade players and get new ones in the draft?

Sorry if this has already been answered. I've searched around and could only find out that there is a season mode...

I really hope they get the drafting, trading, player development and all list management correct. This has ruined sports games before, but if they get this right so its not heavily swayed one way or another it will be game of the year :thumbsu:

If stats are un-editable I have to ask WHY? surely this can't be a very hard thing to add to the game (sorta like the team management part in FIFA, which allows you to keep all team lists up to date and players skills up to date)

Have been following this game and thread for a long, long time, but the news of not being able to edit players has made me finally register so i could post this response.

The ability to edit(and importantly save) players attributes, face, team, position etc has been a feature i have always looked for every time an afl game comes out, and sadly it seems this will remain the case with this new one.

I always look to update my rosters in all the sports games i own, with the ratings/attributes that i feel are correct, and to have this ability in a game of my favorite sport would have been the best news ever.

However, with all the things that have been listed as included so far, this game is already better than any other afl title previously released and i cant wait to get my hands on it.

Hopefully you will consider the ability to edit and save players in your future releases. (Or at least make the pc code more mod friendly than i have found with the previous games!)

They said they will try support the game so they can release patches of updated squads/ratings.

Don't think it is a huge difference as most players you would imagine would be rated accordingly and be pretty spot on. Really think editing players already in the game is "cheating" you could turn the poorer sides into current day geelong.

Very much happy that current players can't be touched, but you can create new players if you wish.

I've tried but HBK just won't take the bait.

AFL party at HBKs house!

You can create your own team, own players, and own comp. That's all the detail I can give right now btw - saves follow up posts :) )
Although this probably technically falls into the area of more detail you can't give, I got curious:

Given how great the player models are that we've seen so far, if we create our own players what will stop them looking 'generic' by comparison? For example, if I watch the replay of my created player leaping over Matthew Scarlett for a mark (unlikely as it is :p) will there be a huge difference between the detail of the players?

Or will created players use a 'pool' of photo-real features based on the modelling of real players?

Thanks! :thumbsu:

Or PSEye integration?!?!?! That's probably asking a bit much.... I'm guessing an EA Game Face-style feature wouldn't be the highest priority, but it'd be awesome.

True, if they follow through on updates then the lists would remain up to date, unlike previous games, so that would be fine.

Everybody has their own interpretations of what the ratings should be like so im sure i wont entirely agree with the base ratings and i am definitely not interested in making them unrealistic, i want as much realism as possible.

Thus why i would like more control, to make it as realistic as possible (by my own opinion of realism)

Things like players being listed in wrong positions in past games have taken away from the realism and enjoyment ive experienced.

However big ant, unlike past developers, seem to have a greater knowledge of the AFL, so hopefully they will get the majority right first go!

And as they have been so open to ideas and feedback from this forum, maybe even sharing a spreadsheet of their players ratings and positions, in which we could give feedback on would be a fantastic idea to get them as close to right as possible.:thumbsu:

Why do you all care about trivial things such as stats?

I would prefer for them to get everything about the game play right first and then look at stat editing after etc. I would also like to be able to edit stats, but if they do plan to bring out a new game every 1-2 years, it wouldn't bother me a whole lot if we can't.

Everybody's entitled to their opinion for what they would want in a 'perfect' AFL game, and this is the appropriate place to discuss wishlists. If nothing else, the many posts related to stats would be a good indicator for Big Ant Studios on what the 'masses' (at BigFooty ;)) consider important for versions going forward.

I could be wrong, but I'd say that most posters are of the same opinion you are regarding editable stats - nice to have, but not necessarily essential for the first iteration of the game. :thumbsu:

Well based on all the stuff ive read about the new project for an AFL game, this is gonna be the best, gonna be tough to beat for when the next one comes out :thumbsu:

I also have a question to ask, will all the grounds be licensed under their current name, e.g Etihad Stadium; or will be they named like as were they were in previous games, e.g Docklands?

From what BigAnt have said this release is about getting the gameplay and all basics right. The Bells and whistles are more likely to come in the later releases.
