Who has what membership?
Just curious because 99% of my friends are AFL members, while I'm an MCC member :(

Not contest - MCC membership is far and away the best. To be able to get into every and any event on at the MCG for free including finals apart from the Grand Final is great value.

Are you not a full MCC Member? Entrance in free for the Grannie as well, unless you get a reserved seat in the ballot.
And besides, this was meant to be a poll about what you actually own, not which one is better! :p

Yeah, I have one mate who's an AFL member, while there are about five others who are MCC members.

Agree with BrownDog -- knowing you can go to every final, including the GF, if you want to is brilliant.

AFL membership>Club Membership>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>MCC Membership

*sigh* Once again, this is NOT a post about which is a better membership.
It is just a post about who owns what membership.

In my case, since 99% of my mates have AFL, then despite getting into the grannie for free, I feel that the AFL is a "better" membership, because if I want to go a non-Collingwood game, I have to buy a visitor's ticket to sit with friends.
kapish? :)

No, for once the Collingwood fan is right.
yes i am :)

No, you're not. I've got both club and MCC membership and have a guess which I prefer? Have a guess which one one gives me far more benefits and value for money? Have a guess which one gives me access to better facilities and, overall, a more comprehensive sporting experience?

(Sorry Matt, didn't mean to perpetuate this hijack of the thread, but the troll has to be stopped :))

Some friends!! They couldn't possibly consider sitting in the outer so you wouldn't have to pay?

My non-MCC mates (most of whom have MFC memberships) and I do this for most games... ensures that nobody has to pay more than necessary. :)

What are the bennefits of an AFL membership?

I have the collingwood club suporter AFL membership.
I get the following.
11 home games
19 games at MCG, Telstra dome, telstra stadium, Football park (port adelaide games only)
Can attend all finals in melbourne
Guarenteed a grand final ticket if my team plays
Have a chance for a grand final ticket when my team is not playing
Half price entry for the cricket

If all you want is football and to be able to have a beer at your seat then the AFL membership is better than the MCC membership. If you attend all cricket games every summer and like to see a rugby or soccer game once every 5 years and like to drink in the bar only then the MCC membership is better.

its actually 29 games not 19 ;)

What does a full MCC membership cost for 2005?? When does the membership year commence? eg is 1st of November so that can get a full cricket & footy season or is it calendar year?

What is the cost for 2006+ after the new stand(s) is finished?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

You want to join up?
Just put your name down on the waiting list.

You will receive your membership in approx 15 years.

No I don't want to join up. I looked up the MCC/MCG site in 2002 and saw that it cost $369. Also saw that there was 180,000 on the waiting list.

No wonder, when you get 50+ days of sport for an average of $7/event, then why wouldn't there be a huge waiting list. I have thought since that the membership is a bargin.

Just curious to see how much it costs now and what contribution the MCC members are making to the $450m new stand.
