Unbiasly, which is better, and why? Which code requires more strength and skills etc...?

Having played both and grown up with both I have to say AFL. Both are great sports and I enjoy a bit of League every now and then. Rugby League has different demands than AFL. You can see it in the bodies of players. NRL players are big powerful units with their bodies set for the heavy hits that players must take constantly throughout a game. I'd say NRL demands more strength and AFL demands more speed, endurance and skill. Thats not to say AFL doesn't demand strength (just look at any of the key position players) and that the NRL players aren't fit, fast or skillful (Just look at Bowen, Thurstans, Andrew Johns, Hunt, Lockyer and back in the day Gary Larson)

NRL definitely.

AFL turning into soccer. Players constantly diving and collapsing like they've
been shot, but then soccer is a big world sport and maybe AFL are heading that way.

Stupid thread.

But because ive posted, i have to say that NRL crowds are hilarious.

Interesting. I was having a conversation the other night and the topic of the crappest sports in the world came up and most said Rugby league and baseball. I have to admit that I agree. League seems like some watered down version of Union. Or almost a drill for a Union side to do at training.

"You tackle me five times and then I'll tackle you five times and if there is a fumble then the crowd will go wild". Geez that sport is a piece of ****.

so you like watching meatheads from the NRL belt the shite out of each other with no skill at all. If you don't like AFL why do you "waste" your time on an AFL forum?

and also, soccer is a fantastic sport but i guess it's just a little high brow for somebody like you

The Rugby trolls are coming...

Summed it up pretty well :thumbsu:

AFL seems more 3dimensional to me, more components needed to make a superstar and you have to respect that. Saying that in pure running power rugby has afl players covered, tackling way better as well but it's al lto do with what they need.

I like everything about the AFL much better except for the umpiring, new interpretations and the current AFL admin. Unfortunately the effect of these three things on the game becomes greater by the week.

At the end of the day, people vote with their feet....

In NRL - 8,000 people is considered a good crowd, while in AFL - 20,000 people is a poor crowd. Go figure.
