Alan Scott... You're WRONG!!

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

It needed to be said but not on Saturday. Not in public, not when he did.

What scott should do is pull his 3-4 mil sponsorship and it might just wake the the PP board up.

No individual is bigger than the club..........Williams will ultimately pay for all the shet he talks .......it`s ok now that PP is the top team ....but just wait till times get a little tough(very soon)

His actions on Saturday were one of someone of little intellect,no class and childish to say the least.

Make no mistake the press will slaughter him and so they should.

A. As the Premiership team, another sponsor would step up.
B. If Alan Scott pulled his sponsorship, how thin skinned would he look.
C. As for our "tough times"; if you've got a crystal ball, don't worry about football, pick the lottery numbers.

Funny when people make rash and bold statements when they don't know the full story. Find out the FULL story and then write something pretending to make yourself look like a hero.

For the record, find out about Alan Scott and his sponsorship at about June this year and what he said then that he is going to do with it.

Exactly.perfect time for a bit of payback.if Scott cracks it and pulls out of his sponsorship of Port i doubt very much Port wouldnt have to much of a hard time geting a replacement straight away.

cheers!

Exactly that is why Allan Scott should have kept his gob shut and stayed as a good sponsor not as a wannabe coach selector. Top work Chocco. That was the best football acceptance with the tie, and the Scott comments for ages. So much better then the usual boring, plastic rubbish spouted by the majority of football identities.

Choco said what needed to be said and it was on his back all season, he's had to deal with immense pressure and on Saturday, when all pressure was relieved and when he did what he set out, after the Prelim Loss to Collingwood to do, he's allowed to go bag the sponsor, cause he bagged him.

You idiot....Scott had no business saying that Choco should be sacked before and that we would never win a premiership with Choco as coach......I think Choco was justified in saying that Scott was wrong (well, he WAS wrong, wasn't he???)......Good on him I say!

yeap its not like the sponsor's are paying his wages or players that play at the club

I have said it before let the sponsor's look as bad as they want in public, no need for a club to stoop to their level, oh and if scott does pull the sponsorship, you don't think a sponsor is going to be a little cautious about signing with them? i mean all they have to look forward to is backlash. Sponsor have a massive say in club affairs whether you, or anyone else likes it.

Williams should have just taken it, proved them wrong as he did, and then behind close door dealt with it.

Sponsors may pay the players and have a say, but they shouldn't be blasting the Club they're sponsoring, and to say the coach sucks, publicly is very unporfessional, so Choco said it back unprofessionally too.

And Mark meant it as a joke. and he sais he hoped Alan scott thought that way too

they shouldn't be, but they do, accept it, let them make themselves look like clowns in public, and deal with it behind close door, how many times do you think you can do this before sponsor's just have enough from a footy club? They provide a great deal of cash to the club, let them have their say, unless the footy club can somehow magically get that sponsorship money some other way, just cop it. Do you think the port board are happy with williams?

I think the Port board are extremely happy with Williams because he just coached the club to a premiership.

It might have been PC if he hadn't said it, but its good that he said it too. Its out in the open, he won't have Caroline Wilson and whoever else making up gossip about his feelings towards Allan Scott for the next ten years...easy.

Either Allan Scott laughs it off and carries on (which is what I'd expect), or he doesn't and the reigning premiers look for a new major sponsor.

Scott has been clearly given a chance to look like a good bloke that can admit when he's wrong instead of a pompous self-important swine, and from a marketing point of view for him and his company, thats a pretty good result. Self-made men like Scott are usually thrown straight into the second category from poublic perception; this is a chance to change that.

Both of them were right......but saying it in the public manner in which they did might have been the mistake.

Seriously, it would not surprise me to see Scott take his money out of the club but why would you abandon a team who has just got the Cup for the first time.

obviously that is not what i was referring too, do you think the port board would be happy at williams having a dig back at scott? and look at the $$$$ here when deceiding, not your heart.

As I said, they would just be happy that Port have won the premiership.

We are the reigning premiers. If Scott did pull out (which is very unlikely), it will not be hard to get a new major sponsor right now.

So there is no validity to Caroline Wilsons comments in the age about ports financial position suggesting your football spending is going to be cut back and you may not list any rookies next year?

intresting, this actually goes both ways, obviously the comments can't have hurt the boards feeling too much what scott said otherwise why wouldn't they have pulled the pin? of course i am presuming scott wouldn't be able to take them to court on this and vice versa.

What was Scotts actual words ...that Williams would never win a grand final or that he wouldn't win a grand final playing the style he does ? ....

I think Alan Scott and Mark Williams have shown a certain lack of class by saying what they have in public. The only thing worse than a sore loser is a sore winner.

Overall I don't think it's that big a deal, just two very stubborn men beating their chests a bit. It should not overshadow what was the greatest day in Port's history.

When top ten draftees and other form SANFL players can't make the side, there may be more than one reason to not name rookies, don't you think?

I'll be amused to see how Port's financial position is come the end of the year. I'm pretty sure either this year or next year our AFL license debt is erased.

Dont know, if you had the money would think you would list rookies, most other teams have rookies.

And re football department spending, why are you cutting back on that?

Don't forget that Scott called for the sacking of the coach and the Board. So the answer to your question is "yes".

That was the least graceful acceptance speech I've ever seen, beating out that bloke who sang "I didn it my way" when he won the British Open (was in Nick Faldo? Some idiot golfer anyway). He smashed the sponsor and I reckon he just pulled up short of blasting the AFL too.

Choco is an excellent coach and he's proved he's in the elite group now, up there with Matthews Malthouse and Sheedy (although I still reckon Pagan's the best). He has a brutal and honest style, a bit like Matthews, and rather prickly like Malthouse used to be. Thank God he hasn't got anything in common with Sheeds or he'd be the most annoying coach around.

Maybe his bunker mentality is part of what makes him a great coach, I dunno. I'd prefer he dished it out to his enemy in private, or better still show magnaminity and let the fella stew in his own juices.

That sort of cool approach isn't in Choco's nature though. He's a bit of a volcano. I remember him trying a bit of subtlety and mind games before the Collingwood final in 2003 and he eneded up looking like a dufus, so he's right to stick to his honest brutal ways.

Choco was the only fella good enough this year to make that speech, so what he says on the dias is his business, really.
