I wonder what David Mundy has to do be all australian. Has been ultra consistent and arguably our best finals player the last 4 years. having a quiet/small profile won't help. How the likes of Heppell just jump over him in one year after churning out years of high level football is beyond me. Dermott rates mundy as the best kicking midfielder in the league so it cant be impact. End of Mundy rant for the year
He's a star and must've been close in 10 and 13, but maybe gets injured a bit I can't recall
He'd probably be in an incumbent in my Australian Team if we played internationals. That gliding running style and that kick, fairly unique in the AFL

Rance McPharlin Smith
Gibson Taylor Smith
Pendlebury Mitchell Hill (pace)
Dangerfield Franklin Rioli
Hawkins Roughead Walters

Sandilands Fyfe Ablett

Naitanui Hodge Lewis Selwood

Yeah actually perhaps not

Interested in your thoughts about Ablett being selected in your team

I rate Mundy extremely highly has Pendlebury/Watson like composure under pressure and makes every possession count. Rightly or wrongly I feel he gets overlooked because he doesn't win quite as much footy as the blokes who get picked in the AA side.

Barlow as well...what might have been :(

i think we can safely say that Freo's midfield is going to rip a lot of teams to shreds this year
Class in Mundy and Barlow, Freakness in Fyfe, Speed with Hill and Pearce, and up bobs Neale to just run out 4 quarters and add a few goals.

Sydney and the Hawks will want to beat them and keep them from 2nd.

The all australian team is based on just 1 year not consistent output over 3 or 4. In fact one of my main criticisms with the all australian team in the past is that it has allowed players to get in based on reputation alone based on previous seasons. It was good to see last year that the team had a shake up with lots of players being recognised for the first time.

Heppell was voted 4th in the afl MVP for 2014 and was clearly a valid selection.

In my opinion Broadbent is better player then Pittard and has so far had a better start to the year.

I know statistics aren't everything but Pittard has basically trumped him in pretty much everything this season. And I think the biggest difference is that Broadbent is our plus defender. Pittard is actually getting 23+ possessions a game and creating rebound while having a small forward to defend.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying Pittard isn't good, I've watched Port's three games so far and Broadbent has done a great lock-down role on his opponents whilst also getting plenty the ball.

Not play in most competitive spot on field...

I rate Mundy but I also rate the players he is up against for a spot (Selwood, Heppell, Parker, Hannebery, Fyfe, Danger, Sloane, Watson, Kennedy, Ablett, Pendles, Beams, Rockliff, Gibbs, Swan, Gray, Boak, Lewis etc etc) can't fit them all in and that list is almost certainly missing some who will be in the mix.

Only Port guys I'd have in there would be Pittard and Ebert.

Surely Hodge and Lewis are onfield. Also Gibson's only played two games.

I hope McGovern can play a full season and do enough so people keep talking about his chances. And when I say people I mean me just saying his name now.

Would be a remarkable story given he'd only played 13 games prior to this season and wasn't even penciled in for a key defender spot but realistically you need a couple of good years as a key defender to be in the mix.

He's battled remarkably well over these first few rounds, bog for us against the bulldogs and as a player that's more of a forward he's been super impressive. But I have a feeling that the combination of our midfield letting oppositions have easy kicks into their 50 and our defense being decimated with injury is gonna work against him, there'll be games against sides like Hawthorn where through no fault of his he'll get mauled on his own.

I reckon if Adelaide keep going the way they've been going Daniel Talia will take the spot down back, can see him having a big year.

Basing this purely on players who have played 3 games so far

T.MacDonald C.Hooker B.Smith
S.Burgoyne M.Hurley L.Hodge
N.Fyfe J.Watson R.Sloane
S.Hill L.Franklin J.Gunston
L.Breust T.Walker M.Pavlich
S.Jacobs D.Mundy P.Dangerfield
D.Shiel D.Hanneberry D.Heppell J.Lewis

Goldstein, Talia, Rischetelli, Selwood - all stiff
Like it - 6 crows. But Goldstein beat Jacobs.

Harry Taylor? Perfect example of a player being named on previous reputation. Talia, Hurley, McDonald, McGovern and Johnson have all been markedly better tall defenders to date.

No. Taylor has been rock solid if you've actually watched his games.
Dominated his players and taken plenty of defensive intercepts.

Hurley and Talia next in line for me..

Your opinion is not always the right one, keep that in mind.

I forgot McDonald, would have him ahead of Taylor..

The others no for me. Thanks though.

Taylor has killed the players he's been on and taken plenty of intercept marks and rebounded defensively.

You're not always right, everyone has different opinions.. Might want to keep that in mind.

Tallia and Hurley just behind Taylor for me.
