Wouldn't have Gray in right now...
Not kicking goals like he was last year.
Outstanding against North regardless

Weekend Wrap and "Liked, Learned, Hated" right here -- How did tipping go?
Wouldn't have Gray in right now...
Not kicking goals like he was last year.
I forgot McDonald, would have him ahead of Taylor..
The others no for me. Thanks though.
Taylor has killed the players he's been on and taken plenty of intercept marks and rebounded defensively.
You're not always right, everyone has different opinions.. Might want to keep that in mind.
Tallia and Hurley just behind Taylor for me.
Hurley is currently 8th in the coaches votes with 14, has been named in the bests each week and is the clear leader the Essendon boards player of the year. The only game where he hasn't smashed his direct opponent was against Franklin, who he had hold of for the majority of the game, only lost the one true one on one resulting in a goal and was still in the coaches votes. He's also the #1 rebounder in the game, a category you claim Taylor is killing it in (23rd).
Talia is sitting on 4 coaches votes, named in the bests twice, only had 2 goals kicked on him and is one of the key reasons Adelaide has the lowest points against in the league.
Taylor has zero coaches votes and isn't currently placing on the Geelong board with only a smattering of votes. Also he hasn't killed everyone he's played on. Won his match ups against Fremantle, but Lynch kicked 3.3 and had a heap of touches and Hawthorn dined out on him.
Hurley and Talia are behind in intercept marks because they have players like Hooker and Jaensch who fill that role for the team, but they smash Taylor in other defensive areas such as 1%'s, R50's, etc.
Everyone is allowed to have opinions, but in some circumstances those opinions are wrong.
Take this from a hawks supporter, who's club is often overlooked or relegated to the I/cI wonder what David Mundy has to do be all australian. Has been ultra consistent and arguably our best finals player the last 4 years. having a quiet/small profile won't help. How the likes of Heppell just jump over him in one year after churning out years of high level football is beyond me. Dermott rates mundy as the best kicking midfielder in the league so it cant be impact. End of Mundy rant for the year

1. Play for a media favorite or marketable team
2. Get 30+ touches a game
3. Do nothing with those 30 touches per game
4. Breakout season where he goes from being hopeless to average(this is impossible in his case), making him look amaIng by comparison
That haircut tho.
Like the brownlow, he's also going to get votes taken off him from his fellow midfielders. The AA selection panel would get roundly criticised if they selected 3-4 midfielders from the same side. Therefore, he needs to perform better or one spot below Fyfe, Hill, Barlow and maybe Neale to get a shot. So far, I'd say he's third in line behind Fyfe and Hill as our best performing midfielders. Also very early days so injuries and form could change everything.I wonder what David Mundy has to do be all australian. Lachie Neale is averaging 29 disposals at 91% effectiveness. #Huge
Lachie is a gun. Can't wait till Hodge and Mitchell retire, Freo supporters can then start rubbing in the Jarrad Boumann trade to the hawks...Lachie Neale is averaging 29 disposals at 91% effectiveness. #Huge

Shhhhhhh
We don't have any youth and are past it. That's the official company line.
Geelong are 1-2, when your team loses the players from the losing team rarely get the votes.Hurley is currently 8th in the coaches votes with 14, has been named in the bests each week and is the clear leader the Essendon boards player of the year. Average slightly inflated by the 40+ monster game on the weekend, which isn't even a bad thing, but the DE is ridiculous for a mid.
Doesn't make it a regular occurrence or change the fact that the panel seem to share it around lately. Three might be possible but to get four, a team would have to dominate the whole comp and I can't really see that occurring this year.3-4 mids from the same side have been picked many times through the years.

Adelaide 3-0, Essendon 2-1... Intercept marks as a defender are one of the most important stats, aside from beating your man which Taylor has done.
It's clearer now, you're upset that I didn't have your Essendon boy in.Hurley got votes in the loss to Sydney. Melbourne are 1-2 yet McDonald is on 17 votes. Theory debunked.
Why is Hurley going to go for all the intercept marks when he has the best in the business in Hooker (1st in intercepts and total marks, 2nd in contested marks) floating across? He's still been taking them, only slightly behind Taylor in fact, just Hooker is the designated player in Essendon's backline to fly for them so of course he takes more. Hooker is the marker, Hurley is the spoiler.
After thinking about it some more I'd say Davis and Lake have also been better than Taylor. Harry has been good to average and no where near the rolling squad let alone side.

Hurley and Talia unlucky to not be in, doesn't change my opinion..... Give up bias guy.
You put your team in and I'll make an argument about one player that shouldn't be in, anyone can do that.Actually it's just that Taylor has been average and there have been at least seven players better to date. Again, rating reputation over current performances. Put in any of the others named and wouldn't have batted an eyelid as has been the case with other teams named.
