Grand Final

Brisbane v Port

who would win ?

Port Strengths
Primus + Running midfield, multiple scoring options

Port Weaknesses
Hieght and run out of defense, lack of finals experience (well in this comp anyway ;) )

Brisbane Strengths
Voss, Multiple scoring options....to be honest I don't know that much about Brisbane.

Brisbane Weaknesses ?????

Results this year 1 all (not including the Ansett cup of course !!!

Neutral ground.

How would you tip such a game.....line by line in depth analysis or gut feel ?

What makes ya think it wont be an all "Victorian GF"???

I can see Brissie making the GF, but Port will end up playing Essendon in Melb if they wanna make the GF

not really thinking anything (as usual I hear you say)....I see it as a distinct possibility though....would only really need one upset.

Neutral ground wont be a problem for Brisbane, I think. They will have there melbourne based support from Fitzroy.

We're still not quite there...."All - Interstate GF" !!! It will be an "ALL-AUSTRALIAN GF"! It is the AFL, there will be a VFL GF too.

I'd love to see Sydney v Brisbane, Sydney v Adelaide, Adelaide v Brisbane. Hate to see Port succeed....seen that too often over here in SA.

An All-Interstate/Non Victorian GF would be fantastic for footy IMO. Just wondering who everyone thinks would have more supporters/members at the game?

Brisbane: They have a fairly good following in Melbourne due to the merger
Port: Closer to Melbourne for them to travel, very loyal bunch who would go to the GF I'm sure.

All jokes aside, this event - an all-interstate GF - will probably happen one day in the not too distant future and it could destroy the AFL as a national competition.

Why? (I hear you ask). Because unless common sense prevails (clue - this won't happen) the game will be played at the MCG in front of corporate sponsors, other disinterested parties and a few real fans from the clubs. It partly depends who it is - because Port Adelaide and Sydney for example could travel. But if it's Brisbane versus the West Coast Eagles or Fremantle (stop laughing at the back), logistically not that many fans can get from Perth and Brisbane to Melbourne for the game.

I know you don't care in Vicland, but that would IMHO cause a backlash and resultant lack of interest in the outlying places. And I wouldn't get too complacent about footy as the no.1 sport because soccer is coming over the horizon as a serious competitor.

Don't the Americans have their Superbowl in a different city from the competing teams? Their competition hasn't collapsed because of it. An all non-Vic grand final will be something that people will have to deal with, because it is going to happen and it will be great for football.
