Bring on 2008??

I am getting pretty sick of constantly looking to the future with little opportunities to enjoy the present (I seem to remember a similar thread like this a few years ago).

Another season of our players disapointing its supporters, this one hurts the most due to for once we had serious expectation's.

Happy with Gilmore and Warnock's development.

Happy with Haselby at times showing what he is made of, Pavlich/Bell/Hayden/Grover yet another season of leading the way. Headland when on the Park has taken his game up a notch.

Sandilands,Crowley, Mundy Peake and Murphy have gone backwards.

Schammer, Johnson have stalled

Solomon has been a great Pick up, Tarrant has been serviceable without starring.
Farmer has been good as well.

M Carr, McManus, Parker, Haddrill, Webster and Cook will struggle to hold their spots. I expect at least one big trade/delisting for underperformers or players in the twlight of their careers.

Not a hell of allot of positives, its a tough gig being a freo supporter..........

When do we win at the dome anyways.....
We look like we get the midfielder of our choice, we may the coach of our choice... Pav signed on - it's not too bad...
We lost too many close games we should've won this year...

Sandi and peake havnt gone backwards or didnt you notice there injuries???? But 2 broken collarbones in a season shouldnt slow anyone down eh.
Players cannot continually improve every year they do come to the pack every now and then.

Peake has had an injury interupted season..I'll give you that

Sandilands IMHO is worse than he was last year and certainly isn't a star like predicted.

If the guy is injured he should never have been playing, you can't play him and blame poor performances on injury.

Give him a break he improved drasticly the last 2 years if he kept at that rate in 2 years would be the best player ever!!! It just dont happen and maybe your right injured shouldnt play but it shows guts, toughness and most of all character that he was prepared to play for the team when they needed him. Warnock has had a fairytale run(along with the team) but today he crashed to earth so are you gonna critisise him for not continuing that good form and improvemet thro 3 or 4 games?
We wouldnt of won even this amount of games if Sandi wasnt playing all season so just think about everything before you write guys off for a poor season.

Yeah your right, lets chuck the towell in, Sandi has groin problems, but without having balls you wouldn't understand.

Chuck the towel in??

If the guy is injured...Let him recover, none of this "manage his injury" rubbish.

Where did you sense I had lost all faith in the big guy?

You are being a bit unfair Sabre. for the first half of the season Sandi was the ruck.

Today the surprise factor of Happy Gilmore and big Nockers had been worked out.

I know the feeling guys, we are doing a lot of soul searching on our board. For a year that promised so much - it has delivered so little. I thought we would be playing off against you guys in a grand final ('sigh')

Sandi IMHO certainly wasn't in the top handful of ruckmen like we expected when he was fully fit this season.

The later parts he of little use, almost a liability(Obviously this was due to being played when injured)

How quickly some people forget.....especially when it doesn't suit their agenda.

Sandi's injuries (they called it soreness at the time) surfaced just prior to the split round.

Sandi was voted our second best player, and you may also recall that he was talked about as having one hand on AA selection by the media at that time.

Either your opinion has been clouded by recent events, or you are showing your lack of knowledge of ruckmen there Sabre.

Not too sure what linking me to our own player of the year award does for you arguement about Sandilands being in line for AA selection or being in the top handful of ruckmen in the competion.

Cox, Hille, Ottens, Lade and McIntosh have been better than Sandilands ALL season.

Agenda? Again not too sure what you are talking about. Surely you wouldn't be suggesting I am writing Sandilands off for good....That would be quite a ridiculous assumption.

I would just like a season where our team doesn't embarrass us, the supporters.

Obviously a premiership would be great, but to win away games at Brisbane, the dome, launceston would be good. Jeez any win at the Gabba would be good. Is it too early to tip that we will lose there next year?

To have won a few of the night games against Collingwood at the G, Western Bulldogs in Darwin and the day game against Sydney in Sydney would have been good. Fremantle set themselves for big games and said things like this game is season defining before each of those games and on each time we failed to get the points.

No one in the footy world respects us and it is no wonder when we finish bottom 8 all too often.

Nah that's not true. Maybe Mcintosh was on a par with Sandi early but Lade was very average, Cox was injured and nowhere near his best, ottens was ok and Hille is a plodder at best. Sandilands and Mcintosh would have been AA at the midway mark of the season. He certainly went downhill very quickly after that, hopefully just injury related.

I know the feeling guys, we are doing a lot of soul searching on our board. For a year that promised so much - it has delivered so little. I thought we would be playing off against you guys in a grand final ('sigh')

I guess the problem is that every year half the teams have to finish out of the 8.. its just how it works. The bulldogs are in the same situation as us, we were told at the start of the year we'd make the 8.. certainities.. and now we can't.

Sandilands (Injured),Crowley, Mundy, Peake(injured twice) and Murphy(not selected) have gone backwards.

Schammer(Missed half season), Johnson(MRP scapegoat) have stalled

..........

From the above you could surmise that Crowley and Mundy do have some question marks over their seasons.

Can you explain how a player that is not in the side for the majority of the season due to the reasons highlighted is able to go "forward".

I think mentally the players took thier eye of the fact that you finish 4th one yr doesn't equate to going better unless their is significant improvement by all individuals and as a team. The chasing pack has improved from 2006 ie Colonwood, Port, Hawks, Kangas

enough of an improvement hasn't occured in a majority of players.

Crowley injured a knee in Ireland and missed most of the preseason. Mundy has struggled for most of the season but has improved in recent weeks.
