Does anybody else get really annoyed watching a game at CS during the day on TV, where half the ground is in shade, and the rest in the sunshine? It makes it very difficult to see what the hell is going on, and takes the cameras a while to adjust!

Yeah, you got it in one. Also wasnt this the grond that they wanted to have limeted seating at so that they could broadcast more games from to generate higher ratings? Fat chance if you cant see the bloody game being played................

You ungrateful Essendon supporters. This is a state of the art ground. Everything is perfect. except for the seats that dont exist....apart from that everything is perfect, except for the seats located behind the pillars....apart from that everything is perfect, except that the footbridge takes 10 minutes to get over then there are not enough trains to get you home...apart from that everything is perfect....except some idiot home team has a computer mascot on the scoreboard driving you batty whihle you are trying to watch the game, apart fom that everything is perfect.......except that the toilets leak and the seepage ends up under your feet as you watch the game...apart from that everthing ins percet.

You wonf find a ground like this anywhere else in the world. Believe me. If you dont believe me ask Graeme Samuel, Ch 7, the AFL, Ron Evans, Spotless, Ticketmaster and all other conflict of interest particpants.

A couple of our midfielders commented that they couldn't always tell which way they were kicking when they came up from under a pack. We played at night, so there were no shadows, and there are obviously no distinctive stands or anything.
I haven't seen Colonial Stadium, so is this true? Bit of a problem if it is, don't you think?

I scored a ticket to the medallion club on friday night. I enjoyed it but I felt like I was in the tennis centre. I suppose I'll get used to it

On the game - It seemed like ther was a higher percentage chance of scoring from over 50 out straight in front than closer in a pocket. Is this true to the mathematics now that the wind is out of the equation

If this is true how long before the big men start playing in the centre square -ie have a full back, a full forward and leave the rest in the centre square.

On the stadium - I liked how the radio still works when you're in the car park under the field. You can get a bit disoriented when you go up in the lift and you're right there.

The seats were comfortable but nobody used the Herald sun (wrapped in cellophane) left on every seat - they became a nuisance on the floor when your pushing past seated people on your way to your seat with a tray of G&Ts.

Pity you couldn't see the near wing but it was never a problem in my case.

Liked how the Doggies fans all sat together but you do become sic of dogee dogee dogeee ! wuf wuf etc - hope they don't score too many goals when the haws come to play them.

Back to the outer at the G next week

Very valid point Eagle_Fan, the stands are exactly the same right the way round and no light towers at all.

I reckon I'd have to think twice popping out of a pack, thinking which direction to run, tucking the ball under the arm, brushing off two defenders, taking a bounce sidestepping another defender, handballing off, running past, receiving the handball, another bounce, to the 50, to the 40, putting the ball on the boot and..........

Sorry about that, just got carried away!!!

there is a big channel 7 logo at one end. There is no real evidence of the Coventry and Lockett end.

In sell-outs they could relate to the medallion club, where all the glass and empty seats are

Or if near the goals, if the grass is brown and patchy, theyre at the northern end

Interesting point Pess, I've been to Colonial twice now (once to see the Roos & last Friday on business) and I have no idea which end is the Lockett & Coventry end. The facilities for the fans are excellent, the scoreboard is crap, and in both games there was hardly any atmosphere. I agree it was just like watching football at the tennis centre.

The only problem I have being an AFL member, is that the AFL members section is on GROUND LEVEL on the wing.

I don't want to be on ground level. I want to be elevated.

So, on Friday night when we played the Bulldogs, I just went to the second level, behind the goals (the end to where Essendon kicked 10 goals in the last quarter), and just sat in some of the vacant seats. There were a couple of hundred seats around me. I will be doind this for al the remaining games at Colonial.

I also don't see the relevance of an allocate seat for games that will get less than 30,000 (not that Essendon will be involved in any of those sort of games). Why cant we all just sit wherever we want ?

The answer is that most people do anyway (I did). People will go to better seats if they are avaiable. But that is an easy problem to fix, and one which will sort itself out in time. For crying out loud, the stadium holds 52,000 people. Just let people sit wherever they want, without giving them a specific seat. Only give them a specific seat if they WANT a specific seat.

You want to be elevated?

We purchased reserved seats along with social club memberships with the specific purpose of getting a seat on Level 1 on the wing.

But I agree with you about moving seats. I don't know why our supporters always complain about their seats on Level 4 when all they have to do is show some inititive and take one of the empty seats.

And God knows that with how we are playing at the moment, combined with supporter frustration about the venue, that there are going to be a hell of a lot of spare seats available at every game we play there.
