Not that I'm doubting you but care to explain. I've got my Grandfathers WW2 uniform & badges & from memory (can't check it now) its the same flag.


EDIT: Sorry, just re-read & you stated WW1 not 2. Still I'm interested to hear how & if you now why it was changed.

From memory,it was a red Union Jack till the '30s.The White one is the Merchant Navy Flag.No it would have to be Blue,Naval Ensign.

Sorry i gave the wrong Ensigns,which someone else corrected But i'm pretty sure about the veterans 'memory'of the flag is wrong.Even people like Bruce Ruxton have admitted to that,about 5 years ago.

Change our flag and I'd be tempted to pick up arms.

Good thing is that it will never happen because to change the flag as I understand it a national plebiscite must be held with over 75% voting for change. It was the only good thing Beazley ever did making sure that would happen. Given the Australian flag is more popular than ever I can't see it happening during my lifetime.

Crocidileman..did you jump up and down about this one? Isnt this Howard imposing his economic will to make people do something? A teacher would have particular interest in been told to beg and grovel for a few extra dollars I would have thought.
