Honestly? I believe Melbourne are in a group of about 6 clubs that, given a good run with injuries, have every chance of making the top four, and hence winning a flag.

We're not quite in the Port/Brisbane/St Kilda league, who have matchwinners on just about every part of the ground. What we do have is some stars (White, Yze, Bruce, Neitz) backed by an extremely even group of players, many of whom are approaching the prime of their careers (i.e. 100 games plus). This, coupled with some promising young talent (Rivers, McLean, Davey, Miller) suggests to me that over the next couple of years, Melbourne will be up with the best.

What we can't afford (along with many other clubs) are injuries to key players (Neitz, White, Bruce in particular). Melbourne's best is as good as any other club's, but we require lots of things to go right.

I don't think the Dees are overrated. Question marks over our ability to run out a season, given last year's fadeout, and the consistency of our younger players have yet to be answered. I'm hopeful the next two or three years will answer those questions with a flag.

No one seems to think Melbourne can win the premiership, yet everyone goes on about Geelong and St Kilda. IMO they've got a better shot at the premiership than the cats and saints. So overated? No.

I think they are alright, but they didn't do much in beating essendon on the weekend. We take too much notice of round 1 results. Last year hawthorn flogged melbourne round 1, hawthorn were supposed to make the four and melbourne win the spoon....... now its the opposite after reversed results. I don't think they are better than West Coast or Freo; so don't think they'll make the top 4, but they'll definately make the eight. That's just my opinion though.

You should start the 'BBB' club: 'Bring Back Beamer'. I have a few Geelong mates who would happily join it. However, I'd have to oppose it especially after his performance on the weekend. Maybe you could even chuck in Bizzell, another underrated gem and make it quadruple B's.

I think the dees did what they could last year. They can be exciting and play hard but i think they just lack the potency up forward to trouble sides like brisbane and port come finals time. A red hot dip is what they always have though. I think how good bruce, green , mclean , sylvia become over the next 2 to 3 years will determine how good they can be. Its obvious Neitz, Yze , Mcdonald and the likes of White are as good as they are ever going to be, it will need to come from the next rung of players.
Saying they are top 4 is slightly overrating them but they are definately a finals side.
