If we get rid of didak. I think our run for a flag in the next few years is gone.
What are your thoughts.

Personally I hope Didak plays out his career with the Pies.

By suspending him the club has plenty of time to consider its next move.

Alan also has another chance to show maturity before the year is out.

Best case scenario is we don't trade him.

We shouldn't be getting rid of Didak... At this point, we roll the dice on a Steve Johnson-type revival from a severe punishment, and hope for the best.

There's no point trading him for the pittance that a team will be willing to give up for him.

Not meaning to rub the salt in, but without Didak and Shaw games are going to be hard to win. When those two are up and running, you guys are very hard to beat, as the Swans have found out the hard way over the last few years.

If he hasn't shown maturity after last years events he never will.

It didn't work last time. 2 weeks after the pub clause was dropped from his contract he has embarassed the club again.

I love Dids as a player as I did Tarrant, but I've had a gutful of his lack of common sense and respect for the club and his teammates. He supposedly bleeds B&W and loves the club but Alan your actions better start mirroring this soon or you will be shown the door.

Call me extremely optimistic (or delusional) but we're not done with yet. This sort of thing will either destroy the club material or strengthen it among the player group. What I mean is that the club is obviously going to cop a lot of criticism and media attention this week, mainly directed at the club values and punisments etc. As a player I would (easy to say in retrospect but i'm trying to be empathatic) be pissed and would want to to shove it up everyone's ass and show them that we are still a damn good football club without Shaw and Didak (yes, that includes the last 3 weeks).

Unlike Steve Johnson though, if he stuffs up again it won't be swept under the rug so easily. Selective amnesia.

I still wonder how "tight" our player group is right now. Did anyone see the footage of Didak giving Medhurst a spray last week as they ran out on the ground? I think it was at half time. You gotta have guys laying on the train tracks for each other and I don't think that is happening right now. The recent Shaws' and Dids episode might be an example of a more deep seated problem.

Our list, as it stands, can not win a flag short of unbelievable luck. Minus Didak we are further away. If we were to trade Didak for a player of lesser ability we would be at least 2 to 3 years off a flag. This year’s squad needs a ruckman and 2 mids at least. Minus Didak it needs a mid with very good skills and he’d be unlikely to be as good around the forward line anyway. Then we’d have to cover the retirements of Wakelin and Burns and maybe Presti. There is another couple of draft years.

Keeping Didak won’t win us a flag but offloading him will keep us from a flag in the short term.

No you are not but never mind that and as for us not mattering - ask your daddy what its like when the tiger roars.

havent heard a tiger roar in a while buddy

you guys even stopped whimpering like you used to

check that the tiger's not dead dude. he may have stopped breathing

we are done, we are dusted for this season. lets do some creative trading.... another year in our youngsters... and some more intensity from our mature age players and we will be fine, but thats next year. no chance this year. if we make the finals, we won't go anywhere! oh well, it's been an interesting season if anything

This season the dust has landed, would love to be proven wrong. Next Season if we keep Didak hopefully he takes this opportunity and proves he will tow the line on and off the field.
If we trade him and get get value and our forwards take up his output then we are still in the hunt as much as we are with him.

I believe the later will happen but not sure who would will give us value.

NO. Heater frankly hasn't been giving us much for a while and Dids hasn't been in matchwinning form recently. A lot depends on this weeks selections. If Malthouse calls up the same old names who've got us nowhere in the past then we're in strife but if he gives the kids who've been playing well in the two's a run, who knows? Until Saturday anyway, we're not done yet!

Go Pipes! The lads should now have all the motivation they'll ever need to put on the show of their lives and redeem the honour of this club. And if we field some new players, it'll make a strong statement about our faith in the future.

I like the saying that 'your best 10 players don't win you premierships, your worst 10 do'. And the way a few of Collingwood's players are maligned, you'd argue that those players weren't up to a premiership (Ok, West Coast ruined this for everyone - but it's true of the rest). For this reason I don't think Collingwood currently have the 'cattle' to do it, and need to continue getting some more young quality through to replace players like Johnson.

So Collingwood could come out in a pretty good position with a trade - some early picks and/or a young star. As long as they don't think about 'topping up' for a crack at the premiership in the next 2 years... Simply because at the moment their bottom 10 isn't strong enough.

And it actually takes a few years of having a decent crack before a young team (like Collingwood's) is actually likely to win it. Look at Hawthorn, likely premiers next year, have had two good goes at it. Geelong was 8 points from a grand final in 2004 (sound familiar), and again pushing in 2005 (Davis..!). So Didak may not be replaceable now, but in two years, when a player (2?) has developed & didak may have started to slow (27-28?), it's almost replaceable.
