Does he come from the British Isles?

Britain is the one on the right...

But there are many Aust soccer supporters who would not touch any of those 3 or 4 with a barge pole.

Your trolling here will fail miserably. You can have free reign on the World Cup Bid board but don't bring that BS over here.

Nice back track from within Australian soccer to random supporters with no name. I've never met a fan that says they are against a British manager.

Seriously?

I'm surprised to hear that.

A few on this board knew precisely where I was coming from, so perhaps it's your knowledge that is lacking.

Didn't the mods put round a note advising people not to throw around the term "troll" too liberally?

Really, who from this board has said something similar.

Yes we did. So as I said you can continue trolling on the WC Bid board but don't start that nonsense here.

Announcement at 4pm today. Rumoured to be a German
doesnt matter who it is 70% of people will whine as to why its a bad choice...and we think the English are bad!!!!!!!!!

I dont care who it is I hope the fans give him a decent chance as he will have to rebuild our squad and that doesnt take overnight...but I wouldnt hold my breath that will happen though.

Are you seriously trying to tell me that you have never, ever noticed an anti-British bias through much of the Australian soccer community?

You've never heard Fos speak on the subject?

You don't reckon Fos has his supporters?

You've never seen similar sentiments expressed in other blogs?

You're only response is to accuse me of trolling?

I've seen it all now.

Limited Asian experience with Urawa and only coached Frieburg? No thanks.

I see one of our special friends is over from the World bid sub forum, must be off his meds. You people ever thought of the ignore option?

Looks like a relegation promotion specialist of a yo yo team in Germany with a short european sojourn, then a year and a bit of mid table mediocrity with a powerful Japanese club.

A lot of big names that won't come have been thrown around so this guy seems more realistic, and no doubt Asian experience would be a selling point with the FFA.

Can't say the guy enthuses me too much. We'll see who it is come 4 o'clock.

His wiki has been changed to Australian manager, that must make that one a better rumour ;)

That guy looks a bit better anyway, the rumour mongers must have Urawa managers confused.

Won Asian Champs League with Urawa and the Gold Cup as manager of Canada, beating Mexico and Colombia.

As good as this bloke may be I'm a bit sick of our apparent need to get someone who has spent time in Asia. Surely good managers can adapt styles and analyse Asian football sides. The likes of Guus and even Pim had to get their start in Asia somewhere, why not Australia? I thought it was time to take a punt on someone without Asian experience, surely we've built up a nation of scouts and assistant coaches who can advise the manager on Asian teams.
