Bastinac has shown a lot more than Scully.

So who would you want in your side???

You're delusional. Even Bastinac, who is great mates with Scully, would be embarrassed by this poll. Scully has played nearly all his juniors with Ryan and always been the better player. Bigger engine, higher cruising speed, better hands, quicker thinker.

It's best you tune in to today's game.:thumbsu:

Oh my, the polls really have become stupid. Only 3 bloody rounds in!

I'd take Scully in an absolute heartbeat. Don't care if Bastinac's in better form at the moment, Scully has more talent and that's that.

This thread is just plain sad, Bastinac looks like he's going to be a fine player but to suggest that he's shown much more than Scully at this stage is laughable.

What's with the Melbourne obsession with North fans at the moment?

is this some sort of weird joke that i don't get?

Bastinac was a good get at pick 23ish, I really rate him. Certainly no Scully though

I have not seen Bastinac play, but i have seen three of Scully's games.

Who does Bastinac play like?

The votes tell the story for this comparison.

That it is way too early to tell, and in that situation, go against the OP - who is obviously trying to brag about his own player?

I understand why he made this poll. I've watched both of their 3 games and so far Bastinac has performed much better. He's fit straight in, Scully has lacked some composure and thus turned it over a bit.

You have just described Travis Johnstone's under 18 career when compared with Simon Black. One went at 1 the other 31 in the same draft. History maybe repeating.

Congrates to Bastinac on receiving the round 3 rising star award. Fingers and toes Toms is not too far away.

how are the careers of every number 1 pick between 2000 and 2007 going?

Very good. But like the stock market 18 months ago the last 2 number 1's should have come with a disclaimer.

"Past number 1's performance do not garantee future performance"

At least Trengrove will be good :thumbsu:

Bastinac looks to have more time in posession and looks a better kick. Scully looks busier, buzzes around a bit more. Both are apparently elite runners, both look like they have excellent hands, both seem to work hard defensively.

I think this will be a valid argument in 3 years, from what I have seen.

Just spotted you having a tug over Scully in the clearance thread 5 mins before opening this one.

So 5 weeks ago, based on absolutely nothing, you rated Scully the best clearance specialist in the league.

I don't have much else to add really.

That was obviously a joke about a bloke that hadn't even played a match yet but was/is the clearance king in his junior community

Do you have all my posts catalogued or what

The second part is interpreting them correctly ie obvious tongue in cheek comments

Bastinac for me at the moment.
Scully will be a very good footballer. Has all the attributes.
But at the moment looks like hes in over his head with senior football.
Needs to build a bigger body.
Bastinac seems to be competing very well with the bigger bodies and has a bit of skill to back it up.

Bastinac looks like he will be a handy player

Scully on the other hand looks like he has the potential to dominate the competition over many years to come

This is why I didn't put a poll on my discussion thread.

But for all those voting Scully.

has every number 1 pick turned out to be the best player of their draft?

Let's be honest, Bastinac has started better than Scully, and appears to have adjusted to AFL footy quicker.

In saying that, though, it is obvious to me that Scully is the more talented player. A better runner, higher cruising speed, more explosive, quicker hands, more damaging and ultra professional (can't comment on Bastinac's professionalism).

I expect Bastinac to be one of those reliable midfielders that every team needs, and he'll probably play 200 games as a result, especially when you consider that the Kangaroos have traditionally loved that sort of player.

Scully, on the other hand, looks like the type of player who will turn a match once he adjusts to the speed and nature of AFL football.

As a number of wise heads have suggested, time will tell, but that's how I see it for now.

Then why isn't he having as much of an influence as Bastinac?
