I'm maybe 1200+ hours over BC2 & BF3 personally including competitive play and I'm still learning stuff.
So if I can potentially help new players find shortcuts to that learning curve, then that's only good for everyone involved!

From someone who picked up BF3 as the first FPS I've played since the Halo 2 days on Xbox, if you're not familiar with Battlefield, it's probably worth grabbing a cheap copy somewhere if you can find one. I got obliterated for the first few months until I came to grips with it.

The only three things that you'd have to get used to IMO if you've played other FPS's is:

(i) Efficiency in role orientated squad-based gameplay;
(ii) learning to fly jets and heli's;
(iii) learning to counter vehicle whoring.

The game will be different on PS3 vs PS4.

PS3 will basically be BF3 only with new maps, modes, weapons, etc. But graphically it'll still be relatively similar and the player count will be the same.

PS4 will have the new maps, modes, weapons, etc. AND will be graphically enhanced, hopefully running at 60fps (I think this is unlikely though this early on), likely to be able to pull off more graphically (probably better destruction), as well as the likelihood (not confirmed, but 99% likely) of having 64 player matches.

As for getting BF3 The Big Sauce and Toshowyouwhy, this is still an FPS where you hold L1 to aim and hit R1 to shoot. It's got depth, but it's not something that you'll be totally at sea with considering you have form with other FPS games. Personally, I'd say hold off as we're a mere 5 months away from BF4 coming out, save your cash and put it towards DLC (Premium sub) for BF4. And as Cory said, you'll be going on servers that have limited population (and likely far better players now considering you're getting to the serious players that are on every day/2nd day).

On top of that, the guys on here will be there to help you squad up on BF4 if you're newbies, to which the game becomes a lot easier in a squad...and it's not like there won't be any other n00bs running around on BF4 either.

A lot of newer players on the bf3 ps3 servers lately? Must be on sale again??? because I have seen a very sudden rise in players level 10 and under as of late.

Eh, it's only like $29 now so I'll probably pick it up anyway. I'm looking for something to play for a bit now before the avalanche of games hits.

And that way I can quickly become the greatest BF4 player in PS4 history.
