A big ball of shit so far.

I'm holding half a hope for Lighspeed Champion. He'll be in the country around the time, new album this year. Would be freakin fantastic.

Muse came 3 years after the last time they did it.

Muse weren't the headliner the earlier time (2007) they played one before Tool.

What I meant was that a headliner wouldn't come back and headline again just 4 years later. Bands (in theory) tend to move themselves up the pecking order each time they come back.

Bloody annoying that Big Day Out get Soundgarden. Wish they were playing Soundwave cause that line up is sweet.

As if Stone Temple Pilots will stay together long enough to play Big Day Out...

There are some very strong hints around the place that Tool might be headlining in 2011, or at the very least touring in January. I'm not so sure King of Leon are playing. I suspect Tool & Soundgarden will headline...

Shit if Tool play aswell this lineup will be sensational. Especially for someone like me who is into the 90's sound alot more than todays garbage

Karnviool followed by Kasabian last year. Birds of Tokyo followed by Cog the year before that at around 12/2. Its still solid, people just like to whinge.

Agreed, Karnivool + Kasabian was the highlight of the day for me. A good 90 minutes of awesome music, before all the drunken and drugged up idiots were around. 2010 line up was fantastic in my books, got around to seeing Kasabian, Karnivool, Rise Against, Hilltop Hoods, Muse, Powderfinger, The Temper Trap, Mastodon and Calvin Harris.

The latest update I have for you is that both Tool & Soundgarden will be touring in the summer, however only one of them will be on the Big Day Out. According to what I've heard a PR guy mentioned that Tool will be headlining the BDO, so I guess that leaves Soundgarden as doing their own thing (the Soundwave organiser has confirmed they aren't playing on their festival).

Either way, I'd check out both Tool and Soundgarden regardless of where they played.

My guess at this stage is that Tool & Kings of Leon will be the headline acts for the BDO Main Stages. We find out in a couple of weeks I guess.

Tool headlining has me there for sure.

Just posted on the BDO Facebook page

"One of the Big Day Out 2011 headline acts live in Los Angeles, California, USA. The other headliner doesn't. Both are bands, neither are solo performers."

If you look at bands from LA there are a shit-tonne of them, but most notably Tool are from LA so adding further momentum to the Tool headliner bandwagon.

I'll probably buy a ticket initally, then await any announcement of a Melbourne sideshow. Then I would ditch the BDO ticket, and fly to Melbourne instead.

Spewing they don't have as many rock and metal bands as they use to. IMO the BDO is about bands like Tool, RATM, Rise Against, Karnivool and Mammal etc...with a mixture of good hip-hop and quality DJ's such as Calvin Harris.

Get rid of the soft alternative crap that they are dishing up nowadays, I like an adrenaline rush, not to be put asleep.

If only KOL were churning out cool shit like they did with Youth and Young manhood and Aha Shake Heartbreak:(
That stuff was perfect for Festival atmosphere, it made me sad when they toured last time to be surrounded by ****wits who only wanted to hear Sex on Fire and knock people over when they played the old and good stuff going WTF is this shit.
