What would you rather?

A) win the prelim and lose the granny

B) lose the prelim and reload for next year

There is no C) win win both.

Whilst the options may appear to have negative overtones, please give an honest answer.

P.s I think we can go all the way, if things fall our way.;)

It is worth getting to the big day even just to enjoy the whole aura and hype that surrounds it.
It probably isn't ideal, but if we take the attitude of B) we might as well have just tanked for draft picks all year.
Gotta go as far as possible and do the best you can, if no-one else the experience would be a great thing for our youngsters.

Yep couldn't agree more. You've got to get there to win it. Of course I hope we get as far as we can every year, I never hope we lose at some point for draft picks or whatever.

Getting as much finals experience into our young guys and playing the best sides in the comp is going to help our development a hell of a lot more than a marginally higher draft pick.

It's a tough one....I really couldn't take another GF loss....if I knew for a fact that we'd lose I'd probably lean towards B, but at the same time, the experience of a Grand Final would be good for the players.

Also depends on the type of loss....if it was a mentally scarring whitewash, give me B. If it's a character-building loss, I'd probably choose A, and chuck my life savings on our opponents. Might as well make some moneh.

Very tough. If I knew for a fact that we were going to lose the GF, then I'd rather us make the GF, and I'll put every cent I have on the other team to win.

But no really, it's better to make it than not.

As much as it hurts losing Grand finals, with the age of our list, and the amount of experience it would give the youngsters, I'd take another finals win above all us, even if 4 players are rubbed out after the Geelong win.

I just think for once this side has the chance to be competing for a flag for a few years to come, and losing a Grand Final wouldnt be the death of them, similar to the Eagles a few years back.

i can't really decide, but i think i would rather lose the prelim than lose to the dogs in the grand final if they make it through. would feel like a blown chance much more than a loss to the saints, imo.

Yeh, it's a good point. Losing the the Saints, while disappointing, is expected.

To lose to the Dogs would just kill me....after the 2003 Grand Final my passion for footy was killed for a while....I just couldn't do it. Since I started following footy 2004 was probably the year I was least into. Was just shattered.

Even considering any other option than winning is ridiculous.

If the only downside from any outcome is that us supporters may feel the pain of a GF loss then we are just being stupidly selfish.

I'll risk some pain for some gain.

Hell I was at the drawn GF, watched that dirty **** Harmes steal the flag and had to put up with Brisbane supporters arrogant barbs for years just to name a few of the huge disappointments.
If the Cats beat us I'll live.
If the Saints beat us I'll live.

If we win I'll have a memory for the rest of my life.

Sorry there is no other option but try.

Fail trying...who cares...don't try might as well die.

GO PIES....as far as we can possible go.

Blood coagulates. Bones heal.

If we don't take it no-one is ever going to give it to us.

So is that an A) for you Pie eyed?

No C) is inconceivable.

You would have to be in some existentialist nightmare to eliminate the possible simply to create a choice between two outcomes which have no worth other than a fall-back from the possibility which has been randomly removed for the propositions own sake.:D:rolleyes:

I have a GF ticket so I'll brook no postulation on this subject.

Win or Die or I don't fly!:D:D

I'd take option 1 as I could not handle handing that filthy mob St.Kilda who I despise with every fiber of my being a premiership.

Tan i epi tas (as reminded to me by didak wine)

victory or death.....

option c.. anything less than a premiership would not be acceptable after our season this year.... we are the baby pies and we are going to swoop over those flea bag meow meow cats and poke their bloody eyes out... then we will make the dogs chase their tails in the granny.( i think and hope the doggies can beat the ainters - we played crap and were unable to punish us like a geelong of 07 would have)

CARN THE PIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whist I agree with Pie eyed for the sake of sticking to your questions I'd say A) Unless of course the loss is a demorlasing demolition which of course could happen in the prelim anyway.

So long as we lose in a dog fight and can leave with our head held high with the belief we are not far off then overall it should be a good driving force for the boys and a good place to start setting standards.

Whilst all the talk out of the club was that this year we where premiership contenders I don't think we truely believed we were there yet. I think we knew we were getting close and had decided that this was going to be the start of our premiership window and therefore we were wanting to switch into the premiership mentality rather then the rebuild type attitude.

The further we go the more that idea and switch of attitude is supported ultimately.

Win the prelim win the granny

We will do it, just like sydney 05

GO PIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How bout D) -> We get to the granny then draw.. (thats not a win so doesnt conflict with A or B) then come back the next week and cream em!! Whos wit me? :-)
