Errr. No. You keep telling yourself that though. We wouldn't have given up pick 18 for Hickey, McEvoy, Luke Ball, Brendan Goddard, Cripps and Andrew Lovett. Hickey was one of the only opponents that Wood beat. Well Hickey and McEvoy anyway. Considering we delisted Wood, I'd say Hickey and McEvoy are destined for huge things. . I understand Hickey beat McEvoy and that was the reason for St.Kildas hefty price. I'm sure they are happy with it though.

Gee, you seem to know and care a lot about St.Kildas crappy list and club history. Let me guess, as a die hard Melbourne supporter  you feel pity for that rabble of a club.

At least the Dees are on the up :thumbsu:

Back to the thread, I'd expect The Beard to towel up both Hickey and McEvoy while teaching Witts and pick 18 and best ruck in the draft,Brodie Grundy.

Typical childish post from a know nothing supporter. Hickey most contested marks in a game for a player in a game v Collingwood. Let me guess that doesnt count for some mythical reason. Do yourself a favour get a DVD of the Vic Country v SA game this year before making ridiculous statements. Don't see why your upset pick 18 for Hickey was not a bad offer meant you could have got Spencer White who Hine wanted.

He's proven about the same as a player like Cam Wood had as a ruckman at the same point in their careers. I'm not saying Hickey won't make it, but he's far from proven.

He's proven he can compete against men . Took the most contested marks in a game of any player in 2012. You would have seen that game.

He played 10 games last year, averaging 10 hit outs, 9.7 disposals and 0.4 goals a game. Even including your contested mark stat where he had 7 in one game, the other 9 games he averaged 1. Like I said, he's proved little. But why should you care, you barrack for Melbourne, right?

I never raised the Hickey issue. Once again it was Collingwood posters that as soon as there is any discussion involving their club they have to attack.

I have only discussed the merit of Hudson being rookied after Hine said Collingwood delisted two ruckman because the balance for development was out of whack in the VFL. He has now recruited two more to replace them.

In actual fact we delisted three; Ceglar, Wood, and McNamara.

We replaced those three with two ruckmen, one of whom will be a full-time coach with minimal game-time, and the other who will probably get some games in seniors playing as a tall forward which Wood was incapable of.

My point again is that if Hudson is being rookied as insurance for Jolly he has to play VFL to maintain condition. He simply won't just kit up with minimal game time to play AFL.

Whatever Hine said, the reality is that we replaced Wood (spud), Ceglar (unproven but unlikely) and McNamara (started too late in AFL) with Grundy (best potential ruck in the draft) and Hudson (proven ruck who can teach our kids and provide insurance cover).

After hearing what Buckley said, Hudson will be used to develop Witts and Grundy and provide backup to Jolly if it's needed. I don't think there's going to be any issue with staying match fit or interfering with the kids development, more the opposite.
