Reid's starting to look comfortable now. The gap will close quickly.

That's not to say Pears won't be one of the better defenders in the league after 75-100 games of experience.

He might turn out better than Reid who knows.

I have been pumping up Reid's tyres for a very long time and have always thought he was probably the most talented player on our list. I think supporters and even opposition supporters are starting to realize how talented he is, it was just a matter of him stringing games together.

Once he has 100 games behind him and is able to really compete one on one I can see him being a dead set star.

^ Go ahead, start the poll. It still probably wouldnt even be as lopsided as this one. Great logic on the games played, by the way. :thumbsu: We would end up with a million polls if everyone was as precious as you.

Pears is the best young defender in the comp.

Pears starting opponents:
Hawkins 2 goals
Pavlich 2 goals
Waite 0 goals
M Brown 1 goal
C Dawes 2 goals
J Reiwoldt 6 goals

It was actually mentioned in the HUN today how he won last years reverse Coleman with 51 goals conceded.

But he's young. Should be a good player.
& better than Reid.

Nice try, champ. Pears took T Cloke and played him into form. 4 goals.

I'm assuming the rest of your tallies are also lies.

The HUN says Pears won the Reverse Coleman last year. Looks a shoe-in for this year's as well, despite missing a game or three.

Cloke got his goals on Hooker, then Pears got moved onto him halfway through the third I think. Cloke either got zero or one goal on Pears.

Pretty much spot on. Pears moved onto to Cloke at half time and Cloke didn't kick another goal.
The only player that has got away from Pears was Riewoldt and lets just put that into persepctive. Pears was only 3 weeks recovering from a broken arm and didn't look at all ready. Further Riewoldt kicked 3 of his goal in junk time - the last 10 minutes or so of the match when we were 55 up and easing off the gas.

Re the clanger issue - well Reid wouldn't be really high on that list would he - he gets the ball less than 10 times a game.

lol, my mistake, I remember now.

Hooker had 4 kicked on him in the first half.

You are one giant mistake. The reverse Coleman is based on who a player lines up on at the start of the game, it has nothing to do with the players direct opponent. Go back to the Bay where you belong.

Sauce?

Pears isn't the tightest defender in the league, regardless of my mistake with Cloke.

Conceded another 6 last week.

He's had 15, 13 and 20 touches the last 3 weeks. As he gets more experience those numbers will keep rising. Reid may well not be a better defender than Pears in the future, but he will be a better rebounding option, IMO.

Neither Dawes nor Cloke kicked a goal on Pears. Dawes kicked both his goals while on Hurley. Pears did not play well on Reiwoldt, but that is the only time he has been beaten this year. He played better on Friday night although he is not back to his pre-injury form yet.

How many other 19 year olds have played on the Number 1 forward every week for 22 weeks. 51 Goals conceded in 22 games is hardly bleeding goals. It is only 2.3 a game. Compare that to some of the other full backs AVERAGES.

It might only be 2.3 a game, but that was still the highest average in the league. But you're right, not many youngsters play on the number 1 key forward.

I did say he's young and will be a good player.

I appreciate where you coming from but it wasn't the highest average in the league it was the highst in total. Pear played every game. I don't have access to last years figures but I did see a table from the year before with many prominent players (including Brian Lake) were conceding well over 2.3 a game.

Reid is a bit in front right now lol but Tayte has been injury riddled since last year so its hard to judge who will turn up better.
